BUMBLEBEE TRAILER BREAKDOWN
The synopsis of the film reads: "On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie, on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken."
With the film taking place in 1987, we seem to be getting an E.T, Stranger things type of story which I love. In this film, we will see Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld) find Bumblebee. With the character turning 18, she seems to be getting her first car, from the junkyard and she finds the yellow VW that is Bumblebee.
This may be our main villain of the film, Starscream who looks like Starscream. The classic Decepticon is most likely out for Bumblebee for some reason. Potentially because the Decepticons don't want any of the Autobots left alive, no matter what planet. I don't see Starscream teaming up with burns or any other humans, it feels a little weird, even though the later films have done it. But I have to admire Starscream in this shot, he looks awesome, from the transformation to the colors.
One of the hype shots of the trailer is of Bumblebee in this alternative form in the desert. This shot is most likely connected with the military shot we saw previously in the trailer. But you can see that the vehicle which Bumblebee transformed to is clearly defined with the hood as the chest. It will be interesting to see how many forms Bumblebee with change into in this film
The last scene of the trailer appears to be in the first meeting of Charlie and Bumblebee, and Charlie rickrolls Bumblebee by placing "Never Gonna Give You Up" in his cassette tape. This was a brilliant joke having Bumblebee not wanting to be rickrolled, even when the song came out. Charlie seems to have amazing reflexes ducking down and dodging the tape flying out of Bumblebee. But this was a great scene to finish off the trailer.
Overall, this trailer for Bumblebee gets me a little more excited for something I didn't have too much interest in. Directed by Travis Knight, who directed the amazing "Kubo and the Two Strings" this film seems to be an 80's style, save the alien film with a lovable alien, and a great cast with Hailee Steinfeld in the lead, who is amazing, along with John Cena, this is a film I am excited to see.
