RICK AND MORTY 'MORTY'S MIND BLOWERS' REVIEW

Season 3 Episode 8:

So a new episode of Rick Morty is out, and instead of interdimensional cable 3, we get Morty's mind blowers, a series of funny skits that Rick had to erase from Morty's memory.Since there was a lot, I want to go through every memory, but I will go through the story in the episode and some important memories. So spoilers ahead for the episode, let's recap.

The episode starts off with Rick and Morty running away with a turtle which has some psychic powers. Morty looks into its eyes and learns everything.

Back home Morty cannot cope knowing everything, thus Rick takes Morty to a room under the garage where all of Morty's memories he wants to be forgotten are stored. Rick places a helmet in Morty and inserts a memory capsule.

This first memory has Morty seeing a man on the moon. He finds out that the man got a new job at the school as the guidance counselor. Morty tells the principle that he saw him on the moon. The principle then fires the man, thinking that Morty uses code to say that the man was a pedophile. Morty goes past the man's house and sees an ambulance outside. Morty goes past a cemetery where there is a funeral where one of the soldiers there says "from a certain angle he looked like a smudge of a man on the moon." So Morty goes home and discovers that he saw a smudge on the telescope.

The second memory we see is of Rick and Morty being captured by a being who likes capturing live creatures. Rick sends out a signal to Earth acting as an inter-dimensional being. Rick gives instructions for a spaceship, and it gets to Earth. The ship arrives, Rick and Morty act as aliens and get in the ship and get away.

One of the next memories as Rick and Morty on a space adventure where Rick accidentally says "Granite" instead of "Granted".

There was one where Rick and Sommer were captured by an alien overlord who tells Beth that one of them can live, and Beth chooses Summer. But Rick comes to save them.

After seeing some horrific memories, Morty turns on Rick for not letting him remember his memories and learn from his mistakes. Morty has a fight with Rick and both of their memories get erased.
Rick and Mory wake up no knowing ho they are. So Morty decides he is going to remember everything.
Morty plugs in a bunch of memories which we see a montage of memories

  • Morty having to jack off an alien
  • Rick creating a flat surface for Morty
  • Alien overlord wanting to be killed
  • Morty having an alien coming out of his mouth
  • Mr poopy butthole proposing to Morty
  • Morty summoning a bunch of redheads with a magnet
  • Rick gives a device to Morty to allow him to listen to animals. Morty discovers that squirrels are super intelligent and they start chasing Morty. Rick tells Morty that dice he messed with squirrels they have to move to another reality.

Summer walks in on Morty and Rick having lost their memory. She sees that they are doing another Morty's mind blowers and gets capsules of their memories and the two fall asleep. Summer drags the two upstairs in front of the tv. When Rick and Morty wake up the blame Summer for letting them fall asleep in Inter-dimensional cable.

The post credit scene is Jerry coming to the garage and he sees the helmet out, he decides to plug in a memory which is a parody of E.T. Where Jerry accidentally kills their alien. Gobo by leaving him in the car.

The episode did some really crazy stuff. I really liked all the memories, they were dark, they matched the humor of the show and they were seld contained "clips you never saw". This is definitely an enjoyable episode. The voice cast of the episode was great, we had Justin Roiland as Rick and Morty, Spencer Grammer (Summer Smith), Sarah Chalke (Beth Sanchez), Chris Parnell (Jerry Smith), Phil Hendrie, Ryan Ridley, Jonas Briedis, Rob Paulsen and Dan Harmon.

I ultimately enjoyed this episode and all the stories it told. A nice self-contained adventure. I will give the episode a 9 out of 10. Please comment below your thoughts on the episode, and what was your favorite memory? As always thanks for reading, take care.
