SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME TRAILER BREAKDOWN

Hey everyone, it is here, the trailer for Spiderman Far From Home, directed by Jon Watts, has arrived, and there are so many interesting things going on with this trailer which we need to discuss such as the character of Peter Parker (Tom Holland), the villain Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal).
Before we get started, remember that this film takes place after Avengers Endgame, all the dusted characters are coming back (we don't know how) and the film is to take place minutes after Endgame. So let's get on with the breakdown.

In this first scene, we see Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) introducing Spider-Man at a charity event where there appears to be press. It is interesting to see the relationship of May and Peter as Spider-Man seeing as though she probably has of had to grow with the idea that Peter is going to try to save the day no matter what.
The “Thank You Spider-Man” lime is interesting because the gratitude could be for Spider-Man saving the day and fighting in New York at the beginning of Infinity War, or even any big fight which may happen with Peter in Endgame.

Here we see Spider-Man in his Stark tech suit, web sling around the taller buildings in Manhattan (which he hasn’t really done before) with what was the Avengers tower in the background. Since the tower was sold, maybe we will see on who owns it now, my guess is Norman Osborn, seeing as though this film would be great to introduce the character, and the tower may be shown off in full, maybe with a new logo on its side.

Here is a shot of Peter’s passport for his Europe trip, as Aunt May checks everything off. I do like how they just removed the years considering that in Homecoming they broke the Marvel timeline with “eight years later”. But for context, the years in here are 2001 for Peters birth year, and 2018 for the issue year and 2023 for the expiration year. The reason why the issue is 2018 and not 2019 is because Infinity War and Endgame will take place close after each other with the snap victims coming back and only minutes have passed rather than like a year.
But I will say 10/10 passport photo

This may be the most spoilery scene in the whole entire MCU shown in a trailer, so skip to the next shot if you don’t want any heavy speculation.
Peter doesn’t want to “take the suit” which is interesting, because he usually wants to jump up to whatever crime may be lurking. But it seems like Peter is depressed. There are several things which this kid could be depressed from his lasting outing. Peter could have some memories of turning to dust which would be extremely depressing, along with the fact that you thought it was all because of you. Peter could also be having PTSD from fighting Thanos on Titan. Or Peter could be depressed from seeing a fellow Avenger die in battle, maybe one of the original six. Or Peter may not want to be Spiderman as a bunch of phase one heroes have retired and he may have the feeling of who is he without them?

After knocking out Ned (Jacob Batalon) Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) enters the room. It is awesome seeing Nick Fury back in the spotlight after so long in the MCU, and it’s cool to see him as his regular self compared to his younger self in the Captain Marvel trailers. With Fury being in this film, that means that the character will be in all three MCU films this year. In Far From Home Fury will be operating SHIELD and Peter is going to be a recruit going on stealth missions in Europe.

Here is a quick look at the new Spider-Man suit which is made to look like Steve Ditko’s original design, with the red and black color scheme, and the web wings. It looks awesome adapted on the big screen. The use of the inns is for Peter to glide when there are no other tall structures to web on to. The suit is a recolored version of the Stark suit, so maybe Peter recolours it himself or Tony gives Peter a new suit.
But in the scene, Peter appears to be fighting at the London bridge, as shown by the grey clouds.

There are these monsters, which people online have been referring to as “elemental” who are going to be in the film. In this shot here I don’t think this is Sandman(because the MCU films are not going to do villains from previous Spider-Man films such as Sandman who was in Spider-Man 3.
This means that this monster is a sand elemental. In the trailer, we do see a fire elemental, and a water elemental.
In the shot, we see Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) next to Fury taking down the sand monster, as she will play a role in this film which is great.

Here is Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) who says “you’re all alone” which is is an interesting quote, because it seems like that the other Avengers are somewhere else and can’t help Spider-Man. My guess is that the end of Endgame will leave no Avengers team and leave heroes retiring or going on to their own respective franchises. So my guess is that with there being no Avengers roster, Happy is saying that there is no definitive back up.
Being on the Stark jet, it seems like Tony may have sent Happy to look out for Peter on this trip, as he may be in retirement with Peper.

Here is the stealth suit, the super suit which Fury gives to Spider-Man as he left his suit back home, and Spider-Man can’t always be where Peter is if you know what I’m saying. This battle which Peter is in here seems like it will be the second act of the film where he will either be fighting Ann elemental monster of the villain Mysterio himself.

Here he is on the big screen for the first time ever, Mysterio. The suit looks awesome, with the greens and purple from the comics translating well onto the big screen. In the battle, we also do see the fishbowl helmet come on which is awesome to see in live action. But here we see Mysterio acting as a good character, a hero by fighting this water elemental,  which Mysterio is most likely behind. My guess is that Mysterio in this film is using Syndromes plan from the Incredibles, where he creates threats for him to fight to look like a hero. The motives behind Mysterio doing this is unclear but will be interesting nevertheless.

Mysterio gets on the news and Peters class is saying that he looks like a mix of Thor and Iron Man. Interesting note here is that it seems like Doctor Strange is out of the public eye, as that seems like a comparison that would be made with the ‘magic’ and all. But I do like the joke here that Spider-Man has Thanos’ Flash’s respects but Flash continues to bully Peter.
In terms of classmates, Ned already knows Peter’s identity, but I think in this film Michelle (Zendaya Coleman) will discover that Peter is Spider-Man.

Anyway, that does it for the trailer breakdown. There were a few things to breakdown here, hopefully, nothing too spoilery. I am excited about this film, but I feel like Endgame needs to come out first for me to be excited as then we can see the mindset that Peter is in which is being teased in the trailer. I am personally excited for Nick Fury and Maria Hill to return, as well as the debut of Mysterio.
Comment below what you are the most excited about from the trailer. You can click on the left for more Far From Home or on the right for more Endgame, and also subscribe. As always thanks for reading take care.
