RICK AND MORTY REST AND RICKLAXATION REVIEW
Season 3 Episode 6:
Rick and Morty are back for a new episode, and this week we have a new version of Rick and Morty, toxic Rick, and toxic Morty. So spoilers ahead for the episode, let's recap the episode.
Rick pulls Morty out of school after he discovers that Jessica is single. The two go on a mission retrieving a crystal on a Death Star trench run. After almost being killed on their adventure, Rick decides that he and Morty need to go to a spa and relax.
At the spa, Rick and Morty go into a sauna which takes out what the individual considers "toxic" about themselves. Coming out of the sauna is a brand new trusting Rick and a confident Morty. However, trapped inside the sauna is a toxic version of Rick and a toxic Morty, in a toxic waste land, where Rick is acting like a god, creating toxic electricity, and Morty is super insecure.
Back at home, Morty is doing well in school, however, Rick discovers that they left their toxic parts behind, as he get's messages on his phone, tracked to the spa. However, Morty tells Rick to forget about it. Later that night Morty is on a date with Jessica but is not working out as Morty is too confident. So Morty moves on a finds another girl, Stacy who he gets with.
The two go back to the house where Rick tells Morty that he went to the spa and got the capsule that their toxic selves are in, as Rick believes that the toxins within them build their identities. Rick places Morty in this machine to merge with their toxic selves, however, Stacy steps in and she is the machine and is transported into the toxic land, while toxic Rick and toxic Morty are their own identities in the real world. Toxic Rick starts to fight Rick with them creating new bodies and destroying the house. Toxic Morty and Toxic Rick leave and go on their plan to make the whole world toxic.
On a cell tower, toxic Rick and toxic Morty turn the world into toxins, however, Rick and Morty show up. Rick shoots toxic Morty in the leg, as he realizes that he doesn't care about Morty, so the toxic version of him does, as the sauna divided their toxins up by their own definition. Rick offers toxic Rick the ability for him to merge, for toxic Morty's survival. After Rick shooting toxic Morty a couple more times, toxic Rick merges with Rick and the regular Rick is back, with both his positive and negative aspects. Rick then flips a switch the world reverse back from its negative side to the regular way. Morty then flies away on his own jetpack not wanting to merge with his toxic part.
Three weeks later American Psyco Morty is working on Wall Street doing well with his own apartment. Jessica calls Morty up, as she wants him back. Rick and Jessica show up with some drones to Morty's apartment to merge his toxic self with his positive self, bringing back regular Morty. Morty talks to his girlfriend he made will all positive, and he tells her that he is leaving, but she can keep the apartment, but not the drones.
Back home Rick pulls Morty out of school, but before he leaves, Jessica says to Morty "good to have you back"
A great scene in the episode was the confrontation of toxic Rick and Rick, and how Rick considers caring for Morty a toxic value of himself. I am interested in Rick's true appeal to Morty because it is his grandson, he should love and care for him, but it is a core value of Rick to not care for Morty, possible to make Morty stronger and a better person?
The voice cast of the episode was great, we had Justin Roiland as Rick and Morty, Kari Wahlgren (Jessica), Sarah Chalke (Beth Sanchez), Spencer Grammer (Summer Smith), and Maurice LaMarche (Waiter).
Anyway, this episode was an interesting one, one of my favorites of the season, and possibly the series. It was interesting seeing what the characters defined as toxic. Rick and Morty are on break next week but will come back the week after. I will give the episode an 8.5 out of 10. I would like to hear your thoughts on the episode down in the comments below. As always thanks for reading, take care.
