AGENTS OF SHIELD "BEST LAID PLANS" REVIEW
Season 5 Episode 9:
We are back with a brand new episode of Agents of SHIELD where we see more of this Kree space plot continue as we see the Agents come closer to reuniting, saving the Earth, and getting back to home. Spoilers from the episode ahead, let's recap.
In the episode, we follow Coulson, May, Daisy, Deke, Simmons, Fitz, and Enoch on the surface of the Earth in the Zipper. The team is making repairs to the jet so they can get to the lighthouse. Fitz and Simmons look at the Zipper and realize that it looks a lot like the blueprints that Fitz was making. Fitz and Simmons then believe that they are in a constant loop, however, they do go home. The two also find some Gravitonium, and that may be the key to leaving Earth. After making repairs to the ship, the team evacuates the other humans into a cave, off the Zipper. May then pilots the ship off in the gravity storm to get to the lighthouse, however, Sinara sneaked her way onto the Zipper.
Meanwhile, Mack, Yoyo, Flint and the other humans are claiming their floor in the lighthouse back by killing the Kree. The three then get a message from Kasius in the form of a resurrected Tess. Tess tells Mack that Kasius wants Flint and every child. or else he will kill every human on the lighthouse. Mack then looks in the oxygen pipe and finds a bomb. Mack warns everyone that there are bombs so he creates a plan. Tess goes to tell Kasius and Kasisu go with Tess and his guards to confront Mack and Yoyo, who threatens to blow up Kasius' Terrigenieses gear, in exchange for the trigger of Kasius' explosives. Mack and Yoyo start to make fun of Kasius, and then Flint shows up. Tess quickly runs over to Mack and Yoyo. Kasius presses his explosion trigger and it is revealed, that all the humans extracted the bombs and placed them all together. Mack, Yoyo, Flint, and Tess run away blowing up Kasius' Terrigenieses gear.
Back on the Zipper, un-powered Daisy and Deke fight Sinara together, however, they start to get their asses handed to them. With the Zipper leading the atmosphere, May releases the Gravitonium and Daisy and Sinara slam to the ground. When the Zipper flies into space, Sinara jump at Daisy, however, Daisy kills her. Daisy and Deke meet back up with Coulson and they find communication with Mack who tells them that the revolution is going strong. The episode ends with Kasius saying that he has a future seeker who told him that Daisy and the Agents are coming to the lighthouse.
Overall, this episode of Agents of SHIELD was an entertaining one. We had a great story on the ground with Coulson and Daisy. Even though it was ultimately taking off on the Zipper, it was a story that was worth stretching over the whole episode. I am curious about the with the time loop, there has to be a change in the timeline that will not create a loop and Daisy will not destroy the world, I think someone will die in order for Daisy not to destroy the world. But it is possible that Daisy keeps the power inhibitor on her at all times so she does not have her powers, thus does not destroy the world, it was also teased by Coulson that Daisy may not the one who destroyed the world.
The other plot of the episode was thoroughly entertaining. We followed Mack, Yoyo, Flint, and Tess. I was so happy that Tess came back. I was quite sad that the character died, especially in a sad way. But Tess' return was great to see, and like Coulson, she was brought back with the Kree blood, which is a nice tie-in to season one. The revolution in the lighthouse is the part of this season that I have been waiting for. It was great seeing Mack become a leader and guide everyone to working together. But my absolute favorite part of the episode was Kasius' scream from when the Terrigenieses stuff exploded. The cinematography of the scream arguably made a meme.
The cast of the episode was as always amazing. Starring in the episode we had Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), Chloe Bennet (Daisy/ Quake), Iain De Caestecker (Leo Fitz), Elizabeth Henstridge (Jemma Simmons), Jeff Ward (Deke), Joel Stoffer (Enoch), Florence Faivre (Sinara), Coy Stewart (Flint), Natalia Cordova-Buckley (Yoyo Rodriguez), Henry Simmons (Alphonso Mack), Eve Harlow (Tess), James Harvey Ward (Gunner), and Dominic Rains (Kasius).
In conclusion, this episode of Agents of SHIELD was a great episode to start ramping up to the climax of the story. Thie episode itself had a great story, from Earth to space, with great camera shots, and a talented cast. I will give this episode of Agents of SHIELD an 8.75 out of 10.
