ARROW "THE DRAGON" REVIEW

Season 6 Episode 19:

Hey everyone, we are back with a brand new episode of Arrow directed by Gordon Verheul, and this episode expands on our main villain of the season, Ricardo Diaz, AKA Richard Dragon. So spoilers ahead for this episode, let's recap.

Ricardo and Laurel go out of Star City to meet with a criminal organization, the Quadrant, who organize crime throughout the country. Wanting to be in the organization, Ricardo goes on a quest to find a member, who gets killed, and then Ricardo kills a member of the Quadrant to get a seat in the group. Meanwhile, in Star City, Felicity and Curtis start to make grounds as they talk about their business, "Helix Dynamics". While Felicity also worries about Oliver who is in danger in the Glades. The episode ends with Oliver and Felicity reuniting, and Ricardo lighting his childhood bully on fire.

Overall, this episode of Arrow was alright. It wasn't good, however, it wasn't completely bad. The part of the episode that annoyed me was how this episode tried to make Ricardo an interesting villain, however, they failed. We saw no interesting backstory or motivations of the character, as this episode evolved into a bore. I do feel like the episode could have been so much more interesting if we dived into Diaz and why he is doing what he is doing.

The episode did tease some important concepts, such as the Quadrant, they seem like they will be important for the series as a whole moving forward, and could also brush over into the other shows such as the Flash and Black Lightning (if Black Lightning is on Earth-1). The end scene with Ricardo, I got some Deja vu to a similar scene on the show. Lighting someone on a rooftop may have happened before in Arrow, I can't remember.

The cast of the episode was great, starring in the episode we had Kirk Acevedo (Ricardo Diaz), Katie Cassidy (Laurel/ Black Siren), Max Archibald (young Diaz), Emilly Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), Echo Kellum (Curtis/ Mr. Teriffic), and Stephen Amell (Oliver/ Green Arrow).

In conclusion, this episode of Arrow was okay. It felt more like a bore, as there felt like there was no expansion of the story or to any of the characters. There were some great action scenes with Laurel, and also some concepts teased which did redeem the episode. I will give this episode a 6 out of 10. As always thanks for reading, take care.
