DEADPOOL 2 THE TRAILER BREAKDOWN

Hey everyone, a new Deadpool 2 trailer has dropped and we get a look at the main story of the film, and how characters such as Cable, Julian Dennison's character, and the name dropped X-Force team factor into this film. I will do my best to break down all the new stuff that is going down in the trailer, so here we go.

The trailer opens up with Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) jumping into Dopinder's (Karan Soni) while being chased by some criminals. This is what I assume is the beginning of the film, Deadpool going on the run of the mill missions taking down gangs. I am assuming we will see some form of a montage of Deadpool running away from an army of gang members, and getting saved by Dopinder, as we see Wade go a series of missions in different locations in the trailer, such as the Asian styled skyscraper, the strip club, and the funeral. I do like how both Wade and Dopinder crap their pants from nearly being killed. Should've worn the brown pants.

We get an over the shoulder shot of Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) as it appears that she is still with Wade. I do like Wade's late excuse, "Getting rid of the gluten in the world so we can be safe." In Deadpool, Vanessa is not the McGuffin as we learn from this trailer, as she was in the last film. So in this film, it appears that Baccarin's role is toned down compared to the first film.

This shot we learn the main plot points of the film. In the film, Wade Wilson somehow ends up in prison. Most likely due to increased regulations on Mutant activity, thus whoever is leading this prison finds out Wade is Deadpool and a Mutant, and with all his killing sprees, Wade gets locked up. That is speculated context as to why Wade is in prison. But the time traveler of the film, Cable (Josh Brolin) steps into this prison by blowing a whole, and he wants "the kid", referring to Julian Dennison's character, who is speculated to play a mutant with pyro-kinesis abilities. With the dystopian future, Cable comes from it seems like Dennison's character will have a part in creating that future, and Cable wants to stop that.

I absolutely love this. Fox pokes fun at themselves as if Deadpool made the trailer. Instead of saying "From the Studio that brought you Logan", they say "From the studio that brought you '27 Dresses' and 'The Devil Wears Prade'" Both films from 20th Century Fox that weren't that great. I do like the idea that this trailer is written by Deadpool, and he still holds a grudge against the executives for only green lighting him a movie after the test footage was leaked.

We hear Vanessa tell Wade that kids bring out the best part in people. This could have plenty of meanings. The way the trailer is cut makes it seem like Vanessa is referring to Dennison's character, who I'll get into in a minute, but I believe in this scene Vanessa is referring to the possibility of her and Wade having children in the future. But it is possible if the character lives in this film, that we could see Dennison's character be like an adopted child of Vaness and Wade. In the shot above, I am assuming this is how Dennison's character is captured and sent to the mutant prison. It seems like from the way the character acts here that his powers turn on automatically, without control. So I would see that the character could create an accidental catastrophe which sends mutant into a spiral to Cable's desolate future.

Not wanting to let Cable kill Dennison's character, Wade is putting together a team full of mutants and his friends. In the team, we see Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) who is above in this mid shot. In the team also returning from the first Deadpool film will be Colossus (Stefan Kapicic). The two non-mutant characters will be Dopinder, who will be more or less the getaway driver for this team, and of course, Weasel (T.J Miller) is returning in this film. There were some questions about Miller in this film regarding some real-life problems, but this confirms that he was not cut out entirely.

Here are some fantastic shots. We go back to the Xavier mansion, and we see more than two rooms this time. We get this wide ariel shot of the entire mansion from the outside, looking like it did back in the early 2000's. We also have the X-Men plane, called the Blackbird landing in the mansion. I am guessing that Deadpool will ask to use the plane but he can't due to budgeting costs. I do like the shot on the right with Wade messing around in Professor X's wheelchair. While Wade recruits his X-Force team, he goofs around the mansion.

We get introduced to the new characters of the Deadpool films starting with Terry Crews, playing the character of Bedlam. This was discovered in the previous shot where Wade was searching through the images of this new team. The character of Bedlam in the comics is a mutant who debuted in Factor X #1, in 1995. In the comics, the character had the power to produce electromagnetic fields, that means he can scan for technology in a vicinity and also human minds. In the comics, the character has been a part of the X-Force. In the shot above we see Bedlam beat down a guy on the street. I am assuming this is in the end battle where we see the Deadpool team fight Cable.

We've seen her so many times before, and I still never get sick of seeing her, Zazie Beetz as Domino. Previously I thought that the character would be allied with Cable and would also be from the future, but here we see that she is from the present day where she is going to fight cable. Her powers basically is a luck field. The probability of good things happening to her increases. In the film and comics, the character also seems to be experienced in combat and firearms. The shot above we have seen before. Domino is fighting her way through these guards at what appears to be some form of anti-mutant conference.

The last and youngest of the new members of the team is played by Shioli Katsuna, who is speculated to be the comic character Surge. The character was a member of the New Mutants in the comic, and I do not believe this character will fit into the New Mutants film next year. The character's powers dealt with electrical power being able to be redisbursed into other forms such as speed. I do like how Deadpool commentates and says that she is "young enough to have a franchise for ten to twenty years." That can be seen as a reference to Tom Holland as Spiderman in the MCU. This character is very interesting with not too much known about her, and also the look of the character is different, which I like.

He calls out the derived name of the team "the X-Force" I do love how Domino tells Deadpool that it's just based on the X-Men. The cross of the arms is that X-Force gesture to do, so prepare to see that a lot in May. In this scene, we got a glimpse of Ben Skarsgard's character who is still unknown at this point. But this whole scene takes place on the X-Force plane, which is where the team is jumping from, to get into the city to stop Cable from killing Dennison's character.

This is one of the coolest, interesting shots of the trailer, Deadpool wearing an X-Men jersey as he breaks through some police tape. My initial guess is that this has something to do with one of the X-Men in trouble saving a person, such as Teenage Negasonic Warhead, so Deadpool dresses up as n X-Men to save an X-Men. This is the closest we will get to seeing Deadpool where an X-Men uniform like he has in the comics before. I do like the use of the upper angle, it plays on the idea of superheroes acting as though they are gods, and a prime example of that is the X-Men, so while wearing the X jersey, Deadpool gets to act like how the X-Men act in a very vain way.

We then end with Deadpool telling Dopinder in the taxi that "Sisterhood of traveling pants" is basically a porno. While Domino is the back seat wishing she stayed in college. This scene has many meanings. There is the real-life troll that Ryan Reynolds is calling out his wife, Blake Lively for being is a movie which is basically a porno. In this scene, I am confused as to how DP and Dopinder got into this subject of discussion. But this shot I think may be valuable in the film. I think that Deadpool and Domino are in the taxi tracking down the Cable, this might be before the second or even third act of the film. But this scene is made by Domino's response, which is flawless.

The final shot of the trailer is this meta-conversation at the bar with Wade and Weasel, where they talk trilogies. Like the second has to be made with a third one or without. It is a joke on Deadpool 2 as a sequel, like it didn't have to be made, but it's being done. And also there was the joke like "who's going to make a third one", a reference to Fox not knowing if they will make Deadpool three, but come on, you know it's going to happen.

In conclusion, this trailer for Deadpool 2 was great. We got a lot of awesome scenes and shots featuring the X-Men, and all the new characters of the X-Force which is confirmed for this film. There is a lot of hype with this film and I am excited to see where it goes with all the new characters. I am very excited for this film, especially with Julian Dennison in the film along with Domino and the rest of the X-Force. I would like to hear your thoughts on the film down in the comments below.
