LEGENDS OF TOMORROW "HELEN HUNT" REVIEW

Season 3 Episode 6:

Hey, everyone, we are back with a brand new episode of Legends of Tomorrow where we see some awesome stuff regarding Firestorm, we are introduced to the anachronism of the week, Helen of Troy, and we get some huge Wonder Woman easter eggs in the episode. So spoilers ahead of the episode, let's recap.

The episode opens up in Hollywood 1937 where a woman is lost in the Warner Brothers studio. The woman is thought to be an actor and is quickly rushed onto a set. The director of the film notices the woman and her beauty and casts her as the star of the film.

On the Waverider, Nate is trying to find any more outlying anachronisms, while Ray attempts to transport the Firestorm matrix from martin to Jefferson. In the experiment, things burn up and create an explosion, which swaps Martin and Jax's bodies. The team has a meeting as Gideon tells everyone that there is an anachronism which has taken over the film industry, and caused a war between studios, so the Legends travel to 1937 Hollywood to save it.

Zari, Nate, and Amaya go undercover in a Warner Bros studio where a new up and coming actress is turning heads, causing men to fight over her. The actress walks out of the studio and Zari, Amay, and Nate witnesses the actress leaves with the manager of MGM, which causes a dispute between the Warner Bros manager and MGM manager.

Back on the Waverider Nate realizes that there is only one other woman that could turn heads like the actress, that being Helen of Troy. The team realizes that she is the anachronism and she is disrupting the course of Hollywood. The team discovers that Helen will be at a Hollywood party, which Martin (in Jax's body) is excited to see his favorite inventor/actress, Hedy Lamarr.

The Legends dress up and go to the Hollywood party. At the party, Martin talks to Hedy and tries to give her confidence in achieving great things. In walks Helen of Troy to the party, turning every man's head. Zari uses her wind powers to spill some wine on Helen's dress. While Helen gets cleaned up, Sara approaches her and confronts her that she is not from around here. Helen confesses and tells Sara that she loves it in Hollywood, as there is no war going on in her name, and she does not want to leave, as she is making it big time. Helen leaves and she talks to her new producer, Damien Darhk. Sara sees this and has a talk with Damien, he tells her does not want a fight, he just wants to talk.

Accompanying Damien at the party is Nora Darhk and Kuassa. Amaya has a talk with Amaya and talks to her about the water totem she possesses, Amaya tells Kuassa that the totem is to be used for good and that it does not belong to her.

Sara and Damien have a private talk. Damien tells Sara that he wants to do business in the 1930's Hollywood. Damien tells Sara that he will give her and the Legends a free pass on not killing if they leave Helen in 1937 Hollywood, and they go back and stay in 2017. Sara agrees and tells the Legends to leave, however, Mick starts a fight when Ray won't leave as he is talking with Helen.

Back on the Waverider Amaya tells the team that the water totem bearer that is working with Damien is named Kuassa, which rings a bell for Ray. Sara tells the team that she, Amaya and Zari will go and save Helen as all the guys are a liability. Before they leave Ray is going to tell Amaya something about Kuassa, but instead wishes her good luck.

On the Waverider in their swapped bodies, Jax is repairing the Waverider after the blast that happened earlier. Jax complains about the fragileness of Martin's body, while Martin complains about Jax's body.

Meanwhile, Sara, Amaya, and Zari find Helen at a house. They speak with her and tell her that they need to take her home. She tells them that she does not want to leave as she does not want to witness the horrors of men killing for her name. At the house, the Warner Bros producers and MGM producers have a gunfight. Zari, Amaya, and Sara start fighting both parties, while Helen witnesses the heroic act. The Legends leave with Helen to go to the Waverider.

On the Waverider, Jax repairs the ship bet everything turns off. Sara asks what is going on and Martin realizes that as Helen took over the film industry, Hedy Lamar never becomes an actress or an inventor, thus with none of her inventions, part of the Waverider would cease to exist.

Martin quickly leaves to tell Hedy to become more and he drags her out of the office she was working in and brings her to an audition. However, in the Warner Bros studio, Martin is confronted by Damien and Nora, who traps Martin and Hedy. The two villains realize that Martin and Jax swapped bodies and Damien cracks up laughing. Martin and Hedy quickly leave and hide, where Martin tells Hedy about Firestorm.

On the Waverider, Jax senses that Martin is in danger so he tells Sara. Sara gets Mick, Ray, and Nate to come with her to save Martin, while Zari and Amaya protect Helen on the Waverider. Helen asks Zari where she got her powers from, Zari says she doesn't know, but she tells Helen that Sara doesn't have powers. Amaya then gives Helen a knife to protect herself, while Amaya and Zari manually lock the entries into the Waverider.

In a Warner Bros studio, Martin is being force choked by Damien. Sara and the other Legends come to stop Damien who lets go of Martin. Sara picks up two sword props and challenges Damien to a non-powered duel, which he agrees to do.

On the Waverider, Kuassa manages to sneak in with her water form, and she starts to attack Zari. Amaya walks in and challenges Kuassa to a fight.

Back in the Warner Bros studio. Nora fights Ray, Mick, and Nate, however her power is too strong and she gets the upper hand on all three. Sara manages to pin down Damien in the sword duel however Nora starts to drain the life from Sara. Hedy tells Martin and Jax that they need to form Firestorm to save Sara. The two do and create Martinstrom (Martin is the body, and Jax is the consciousness). Martinstrom throws a fireblast at Nora and Damien, causing the villains to leave the scene.

Martin and Jax de-fuse Martinstorm and Martin and Jax are back in their correct bodies, however, Sara is still unconscious from her being choked.

On the Waverider, Amaya is still fighting Kuassa. Kuassa tells Amaya that the animal totem she is wearing does not belong to her, because she is not protecting Zambasie, and that the totem belongs to her, as Kuassa reveals to Amaya that her totem gets passed down to her daughter, and then to Kuassa's sister, Mari (the current 2017 Vixen), so Amaya realizes that Kuassa is her daughter. Helen comes along and stabs Kuassa with the knife she got earlier, and Kuassa disappears into water sinking into the ship.

At the Warner Bros studio, Hedy thanks, Martin and Jax and gives Martin a kiss. On the Waverider, Ray tells Amaya that Sara will be in a small coma, and he tells her that he was going to tell her about her relation to Kuassa which Amay already figured out. Zari and Helen go into the escape pod to drop Helen off. Zari tells Helen that she found a loophole in the timeline where Helen goes missing, so Zari tells Helen she is not going to drop her back in Troy, but on the warrior woman island, of Themyscira!

I just want to talk about that ending. If you do not know, Themyscira is the home of the Amazonians, and the home of Diana Prince, AKA, Wonder Woman who know exists in the Arrowverse. This was I believe the first hint of Diana Prince in the DCTV universe,  and this was a huge hint, the homeland of Wonder Woman exists. But the Island looks similar to what we saw in the Wonder Woman film, which is not connected. But this opens up a plethora of possibilities in the Arrowverse, we could get Wonder Woman sometime in the DCTV shows, but most likely. But it is possible we could see Wonder Woman related characters in the shows such as Donna Troy. But this got me super excited for all the possibilities of a Wonder Woman around in the Arrowverse.

The episode overall was a neat episode. I liked the idea of the Legends in 1937 Hollywood, and the idea that the studios that are basically funding the show were the studios that they went to such as Warner Bros. Helen of Troy was an interesting anachronism in the episode, and I liked the perspective of hers that was shown in the episode. But one of the highlights of the episode was Martinstorm. It was awesome seeing Martin take over the body of the Firestorm matrix, after all these years. But it seems like Victor Garber will leave the show as Martin in the next episode, going home to his family.

The cast of the episode was great. I enjoyed Franz Drameh in the episode as Jax/Martin/Firestorm and Victor Garber in the episode as Martin/Jax/Firestorm. It was great seeing these two actors act as each other in the episode, and it made for some great humor. The rest of the cast in the episode was great we had Caity Lotz (Sara/ White Canary), Brandon Routh (Ray/ the Atom), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Amaya/Vixen), Nick Zano (Nate/ Citizen Steel), Tala Ashe (Zari Tomaz),  Dominic Purcell (Mick/Heatwave), Neal McDonough (Damien Darhk), Courtney Ford (Nora Darhk), Tracy Ifeachor (Kuassa), Celia Massingham (Hedy Lamarr), and Bar Paly (Helen of Troy).

In conclusion, this episode of Legends of Tomorrow was a really fun one which had some interesting plot points with Firestorm, is brought in a new interesting character of Helen, and we got that Wonder Woman Themyscira tease at the end of the episode. I will give "Helen Hunt" an 8.5 out of 10. I would like to hear your thoughts on the episode down in the comments below. As always thanks for reading, take care.
