AVENGERS: A-DAY GAME TRAILER BREAKDOWN

Hey everyone, E3 is going on right now, and we finally got a trailer for the Square Enix Avengers game, after two years of waiting. In the trailer we see the story develop, in terms of the Avengers team, and villain that we may fight, and get a look into some of the locations we will play at.

The Team

In the trailer, we hear a voice over from a female describing meetings her heroes, the Avengers, who are celebrating their own holiday. It seems like in the universe that this game is set in, we will have a fully developed Avengers team who are all notable heroes. In this team we have:
  • Captain America
  • Black Widow
  • Iron Man
  • The Hulk
  • Thor

This team is essentially the same original team from the first Avengers film, albeit, minus Hawkeye. In the future, we will probably see more characters join the team. If I have to place bets on who may join the team in the future it would be:
Hawkeye, War Machine, Falcon, Ant-Man, and the Wasp.
These characters just seem like they are the most realistic to join this game, because of their powers, and how they may easily join in on the story.

By the way, this game is not in the same universe as the Spider-man PS4 game. There may be rights issues in getting the two games to crossover, however, it could be a possibility in the future (considering that the Avengers weren’t home in the events of the Spider-Man PS4 game, while the Avengers tower still remained).

The Location

In the trailer, we see that the Avengers are on the Helicarrier where the events of the game startup. Later we see it crash, but it appears that there will be some playability on it.

The main city that the Avengers are in is San Francisco. This is kind of unusually considering that the Avengers have been most known to operate at their home base in New York. So on the opposite coast, we will see the Avengers, which will be a neat refresher.

The first part of the game we see that it takes place in San Francisco, however, when the city is nearly destroyed by whatever the threat is, and the Hellicarrier crashes, the Avengers seem to disperse, and we see a dystopia. I am guessing that we may see a dystopia, San Francisco, we could possibly go to New York at some point, we will most definitely be able to play on the Hellicarrier, and also it seems like there is a space level, as Iron Man is flying around in space in a special suit (similar to the Mark 39 from Iron Man 3).

The Villain

In the trailer, we never see the villain that is attacking San Francisco who has an army, a few tanks, all of whom are using Iron Man's "pulsar tech." It appears from the trailer that the mission that the villain is on is to transport weapons into San Francisco.

The army of soldiers could possibly be from AIM or Hydra, with the main villain having of taken other one of these evil organizations. Or this army could be a brand new organization created by the main villain. The trailer does show the main villain of the game, and that is Taskmaster. In the game, it seems like he is weapon trafficking, however, I am not too sure what his endgame in the game may wind up being.

Later in the trailer, we do see some other villains, such as Abomination, who probably won't be the main villain but a threat nevertheless.

With Taskmaster being the main villain of the game, he has already made himself a formidable opponent to the Avengers as he has essentially killed Captain America as the Hellicarrier is taken down. When Captain America dies it does seem like Black Widow or Iron Man will wind up leading the team when they get back together because it does seem like after Captain America dies, they will disperse.
I don’t think that Captain America will actually die in the game, and he will come back later on in the game's events, and it will probably play out in a twist of some sorts.

Anyway, this trailer was awesome, and I am just glad that we finally got a look into this game after the announcement two years ago. I am excited to see where this game goes, and I am excited to try it out next year.
