SUPERGIRL "TRINITY" REVIEW
Season 3 Episode 17:
Hey everyone, we are back with a brand new episode of Supergirl, directed by Jesse Warn. We see some awesome stuff happen in this episode, with the World Killers, the Legion of Superheroes, and also Alex gets a suit upgrade. So spoilers ahead, let's recap.
With all three World Killers assembled, they create an eclipse, which Kara discovers she can travel to the world of the world killers, the haunted forest. Using Brainiac's Legion technology, Kara, Alex, and Lena go into the World Killer dream forest where they find Sam and Julia. Waking Sam up in the real world, Sam sends out a signal to Supergirl and the others, as she, Alex, Martian Manhunter, and the Legion assemble to fight the World Killers, where Pestilence and Purity are killed, however, Reign gets away.
This episode was an interesting episode. I enjoyed how we explored the world where the host of the World Killers go when the World Killers take over. It was interesting seeing as though how much influence how the host such as Sam has on Reign. I liked seeing Kara and Alex together in that world, it bonded those two characters together. Lena felt a little out of place. I know it was a mental scape, but is Lena really a friend of Sam that she could help her? The end fight was enjoyable. Although some of the CG wasn't too great, it was still fun to watch. I liked how the heroes were used in that fight, where no one felt sidelined. At the end there, it seems like Reign absorbed the power of Purity and Pestilence, so Reign could potentially be three times as strong.
Chyler Leigh was awesome in the episode as Alex Danvers. I enjoyed how the character had something to do, and the suit upgrade is a neat addition to the character and gives her a sense of her own identity. Leigh's performance was great in the episode and made for an entertaining episode. The rest of the cast was also great. Starring in the episode we had Melissa Benoist (Kara Danvers/ Supergirl), Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers), Katie McGrath (Lena Luthor), Chris Wood (Mon-El), Amy Jackson (Imra/ Saturn Girl), David Harewood (J'onn J'onzz/ Martian Manhunter), Jesse Rath (Brainiac 5), Jeremy Jordan (Winn Schott), Mechad Brooks (Jimmy Olsen), Angela Zhou (Pestilence), Krys Marshall (Purity), and Odette Annable (Samantha Arias/Reign).
In conclusion, this episode of Supergirl was interesting as it develops the characters a little more, in regards of the threat of Reign which opposes them. With interesting action scene and performances, this was an enjoyable episode which I will give an 8 out of 10.
