RICK AND MORTY 'THE RICKCHURIAN MORTYDATE' REVIEW

Season 3 Episode 10:

The season finale of Rick and Morty is already here, after what seems like a very short time. The episode had a bunch of stuff in it with the return of the President of the US voiced by Keith David. In the episode there were some threads connected to last weeks episode, so spoilers ahead for the episode, let's recap.

The episode opens with Rick poking fun at Morty for playing Minecraft. But then special service agents show up and tell the Grandfather and grandson that the President needs their help. Rick and Morty then portal over to the White House where they are greeted by the President; who offers Rick and Morty a mission, to clean the Kenedy sex tunnels from "Googas". Rick and Morty accept and start to clean the tunnels, and then Morty can finally get his selfie. On their mission, Rick and Morty get bored and decide to portal home.
This is seen by the White House security and they tell the President.

Back at home Rick and Morty play Minecraft, like South Park; but this is in Virtual Reality. In the White House, the President is watching live security footage of Rick and Morty at home. He calls the two and Rick answers and lies and says that they are in the tunnels taking out the Googas.  The President calls out Rick and Morty. Rick and Morty apologize and the President tells them that he doesn't arrest them because they save the world, which Rick replies that it would be impossible for them to arrest him anyway. Rick says that he and Morty will save America anytime because moving to a new Earth is a pain. Morty asks "are we cool" which Mr. President replies "yes". Rick and Morty hang up the phone and think that the call went really well.

The President is asked by the officers around him "what is their new Rick and Morty policy?" which the president asks "We will never need them" and he turns to the widow looking depressed.

Back at home, Rick finds out that there are a tiny nuclear capable species in Brazil, so Rick and Morty quickly travel to the place. In Brazill, Rick and Morty are confronted by the army, who flee when the US military shows up with a large portal. The president shows up who dismissed Rick and Morty from the situation. Rick and Morty leave. The President then goes and shrinks himself down (without his clothes) to talk to this tiny race. The tiny race gives the president a t-shirt which reads "best president ever" and it is from Rick and Morty.

Meanwhile, Beth is going shopping with Summer, who points out that Beth seems like a different person. Beth takes a look in the mirror and calls Rick. She asks her father about if she is a clone. Rick tells her that she is not a clone. Beth then asks but is that what Rick would tell her if she were the clone. Rick doesn't respond but tells her that when smart people become happy they stop recognizing themselves, and that this is happening because she is Rick's daughter. Beth then has a sigh of relief until Rick says
"You are not pretending to be convinced that your real because you're actually convinced that you are a clone, and you are not terrified that becoming self-aware would mean that I would have to terminate you?"
Beth then hangs up and freaks out.

Back in Brazil, the President grows back to regular size and decide to go back to the White House to get clothes. Mr. President learns that Rick and Morty made peace between Isreal and Palestine in a Star Wars cantina and that Rick and Morty placed it under the President's name.
The President is still mad at Rick and Morty thinking that "they are assholes".

While that was going down, Beth shows up at Jerry's apartment thinking that she is a clone. Jerry recreates the moment that they first kissed, which Beth remembers she hated. But then she loved now, so she confirmed herself that she is a clone.

Back in the White House, the president finds Rick and Morty and the two get targeted by a series of soldiers. A guard approaches Rick who tells him "If you touch me you are going to die, and there is no afterlife it is all black." The guard touches Rick and immediately dies. EVeryone freaks out. Rick tells the President that Morty deserves a selfie with him, after all his hard work. The President says never. All the guards open fire on RIck who has mini shields which deflect all the bullets. The President brings out a super canon himself and fights Rick.

This fight leads Rick and the President to go through the Truman cocaine lounge. After a long battle with the President in a mech suit, the two end up both outside, on the lawn of the White House. Rick has the President down and calls Morty to get the selfie. Morty isn't around, so Rick calls him. Morty answers and tells Rick that he stole his portal gun and hid out with his family because they do not want Rick killing the possible clone Beth; which Beth and Jerry are back together again. Rick asks the President to borrow his portal, in exchange for Rick not being seen again by the President.

The Smith family is hiding out in a cabin (similar to the ending of season 2) and Rick shows up coming out of the President's portal. Rick has a gun in his hand. The Smith family runs outside, Beth in front of the rest. She tells Rick that if she is a clone she isn' related to him, but she is related to the real Beth, who let her family, and that means that she relates to her family now. Rick says that she isn't a clone and that he 'came to kill Jerry." Rick throws the gun on the ground and Rick says that "Jerry won". Morty asks Rick "are you going to stay?, which Rick replies "there are infinite timelines, why would I stay in the one where I trashed the White House, became an enemy of America and the lowest status character in my idiot family."

We cut to the White House where a cleanup of the oval office is happening. A Rick in fishing gear comes out of a portal and tells the President that he is a new Rick who came to this reality and that he will help the President in times of need. The two shake hands and part ways.

Back home Rick in fishing gear comes back and gives Jerry back the gear, fixing the relationship he had with the President by acting as a new Rick. Beth tells Rick that he can't talk back to Jerry anymore and that things will be more "streamlined, like season one." Summer makes a joke about beth being a clone, and Beth replies "even if I was, it's not like Rick would tell us." The Smith family starts laughing and Rick stands unimpressed in the corner.

The post-credit scene of the episode was of Mr. Poppy Butthole, who now has a wife and kid. He says that he did a lot between season 2 and season 3, and he hopes no one just did the same thing. Then he goes on to say a long time till season 4.

So that was the whole episode. There was a lot that happened, especially with Beth, so it made some sense to not cram a lot of Evil Morty stuff or Phoenix person and Tammy stuff in the episode. But the Beth stuff. I still think that she might be a clone, because Rick probably doesn't want her to go Blade Runner, and she loves Jerry again. So who knows what is going up with the real Beth, or if this is actually the real Beth, which it could be. Because what else would Rick say to the real Beth than "you are not a clone." But we will see what happens.

Rick in the episode was an interesting character. The reason he didn't move to a new Earth, in the end, was because it is a b*tch and a half, and also maybe it is also monitoring the clone of Beth. I am interested to see what will go down with Rick heading into season 4.

The cast of the episode was amazing. We, of course, have Justin Roiland as Rick Sanchez and Morty. This episode also bought the return of Keith David as the POTUS (President of the United States), who was so great in the episode. The rest of the cast was great in the episode, we had Sarah Chalke (Beth Smith), Chris Parnell (Jerry Smith), Spencer Grammer (Summer Smith), Maurice LaMarche, Nolan North, and Tara Strong.

Overall, the season three finale was a good episode, it didn't feel as strong as a finale could have been, but it was still enjoyable. I will give the episode 8 Pickle Rick's out of 10. Boom, that is Season three done. Only like two and a half years till season four, maybe it will come earlier who knows. Later on, I will do a season four predictions, so subscribe if you want to see that. But I would like to hear your thoughts on the episode down in the comments below. As always thanks for reading, take care.
