XBOX E3 2018 REVIEW
Day one of E3 started is is probably over with the time your reading this, however, on the first day we got a load of new trailers and news from Microsoft promoting the X-Box and all the new games coming in the next year, which include Halo, Tomb Raider, Gears of War, Cuphead, Just Cause, and even the Battletoads. We've got a lot, so let's get on with talking about them.
The biggest one I have to say for X-Box is the new Halo game "Halo Infinite", where we get more os a teaser into the game. Visually this game looks phenomenal, I was blown away by the realism that is used to create the scenery that we saw t the beginning of the trailer. I did love the way that they introduced Master Chief in the trailer, holding the helmet, and then the music and logo come out, this trailer gave me the chills, and this is from someone who hasn't played a Halo game in a while. I am curious to see where this game goes and how it feels with the other games.
Something that most people knew was coming, however maybe not this soon was a new Forza game, yes "Forza Horizon 4" was announced and the big selling point of this game is the seasonal weather changes, which I do have to admit does look cool in the trailer. The weather impacting on the gameplay would be cool. But October 2 is the release date so we can play it relatively soon.
Another big title coming in February 2019 is Crackdown 3 with Terry Crews doing the voice over of the trailer which was great. In the trailer, we see the gameplay and sort of the feel of the game, which is interesting, but I do like the major enthusiasm placed in by Crews in the trailer, it really sells the game.
We have a new Tomb Raider game titled "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" which shows off Lara Croft once again uncovering some mysteries. The trailer shows off some of the locations which look amazing, in terms of the realism that they show, however, the character models don't look too polished, and almost cartoony. I am comparing them to the models of the recent Tomb Raider games, but this footage won't be finale an hopefully in the final game it will be polished. But the trailer does get me excited for the game with its interesting story.
Fallout 76 was announced and it was one interesting trailer which showed off parts of the story of the game, and what we could see from the franchise later on. In the trailer we see that the film takes place in 2076 in the fallout shelter 76, so the number '76' is layered throughout the trailer itself and will most likely be prominent in the game. I am interested in this game as it seems like there will also be a part of the game dedicated to rebuilding the world instead of for surviving in the world, which is an interesting change. But a new Fallout game, that's exciting.
A Game which has interested me is the Jump Force game which is an anime crossover with Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Deathnote, and some other series. The game looks interesting in its mechanic and the art style which goes with. I like the idea of this anime crossover in the video game as it seems like it will also have a campaign rather than just a fighting game against different properties.
Like your sanity? No, well we have new DLC for Cuphead where there are new bosses, new weapons, and new charms, as well as a new character that is playable, Ms. Chalice. Cuphead was an awesome game if you didn't rage quit, and this new DLC seems like it will add some neat concepts to the game which I am excited to see next year.
A teaser for a new Battletoads game was revealed and we get confirmation that Zitz, Pimple, and Rash are returning 2019 in a brand new adventure which does get me excited. I am very interested to see what the toads will look like the in the game, and how it feels as a whole.
Gears of War 5 got a trailer and we see some of the story of the game and gameplay which both looks coo. I haven't played Gears of War any of them, but this trailer does look interesting, and I think that I might go and play through the other Gears of War games because this trailer does intrigue me. There was also a Funk Gears of War game announced which was interesting, to say the least.
Just Cause 4 was announced and it looks awesome. I loved Just Cause 3, it was something that I loved to play, and this sequel looks just as fun. Although the setting of the game looks a little more isolated there are some awesome aspects shown off in the trailer such as the flying into the tornado. I am excited about the game, and see what craziness happens.
The last trailer I want to talk about is what X--Box finished off with this year at E3 and that was a brand new game "CyberPunk 2077" The trailer shows off a brand new world of 2077 where this game takes place as we see an unnamed 'protagonist' (?) trying to make it through living in the "worst city in America" where there appear to be technology corruptions. This trailer raises so many questions but it looks awesome. The game looks like a Ready Player One type of situation where there is a dystopian future however yet a reminiscent past hinted at through the futuristic city.
This game looks very interesting and there are people speculating the character we see in the trailer is the antagonist, because us, the players can make out own protagonists to live in this future world. That is just a theory at this stage, but this game does look exciting.
That was all of the big announcements from X-Box this year at E3, there was a lot of news and trailers to take a look at and there is a bunch more to come. Sony appears to be dropping stuff throughout, while Nintendo appears to be having their big announcements tomorrow, so subscribe for that.
