AVENGERS ENDGAME 'BIG GAME' SPOT BREAKDOWN
We start the trailer with shots of the heroes who were killed in Infinity War, from previous films, with everything in black and white, and only the red highlighted in those shots. So just to remind you, the named heroes we lost in the snap (and were also killed by Thanos) were: Gamora, Vision, Loki, Heimdall, Mantis, Drax, Star-Lord, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, the Wasp, Hank Pym, Janet Van Dyne, the Winter Soldier, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Groot, Falcon, Shuri, Doctor Strange, and Spider-man. We also then see the Marvel Studios ten-year logo fade away.
After seeing shots of a bleak New York city, after the snap, we go and see this support group where Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is. There is a poster which says 'Where do we go, now that they're gone?" referring to the snap victims. My guess is that if someone made this poster, some time has passed between now and the snap. I would say at the least a week.
But in this support group, we don't know who's attending (most likely some other Avengers and some civilians), but Steve says "Some people move on... but not us." In this shot, we see that Steve has shaven, and does look as depressed as the last trailer. I guess this line is the bases of the film. That the Avengers will not stop at anything to bring back the half of the universe that was snapped away and defeat Thanos once and for all.
Here is a shot of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Nebula (Karen Gillian) repairing the Benetar ship which the Guardians arrived on Titan on. The two are repairing the ship, however, it isn't entirely clear whether or not this scene is happening before or after they start running out of food. My guess it is after Stark leaves the message in his suit. It makes sense that Stark may try to use his last day with oxygen to try his hardest to at least make a signal to the Avengers or to Friday to be reduced.
Outside of the Avengers facility, Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), Captain America, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), and War Machine (Don Cheadle) walk out on the lawn with a light shining down. My theory here is that the light is a trick, and there is not actually any bright white light. My guess is that Captain Marvel is arriving on Earth, and she found out about the Avengers one way or another, is coming to meet them.
I am not too sure what her first reaction will be to the Avengers. I don't think she will fight anyone, because that might waste time in the film, which is already quite long, and they seem like they will be on the same page. I think Carol Danvers may have lost someone like Goose to the snap.
Here is a shot of Rocket (voice: Bradley Cooper; body: Sean Gunn), going into a cabin on Earth. In this shot, it appears that Rocket is wearing a new suit. The suit is a lighter blue and has red lines going through it. It also looks a little baggy. This might be something that Rocket is wearing in his spare time, but the colors do seem reminiscent of the Guardians of the Galaxy uniform from the comics.
I am very interested to see what is happening in this scene. In the background, we see a mountain and a river. It is possible that this is where the Asgardians who got off the ship and survived the snap (like Valkyrie) are living. It looks like it is close to the clifftop in Norway where Odin wanted Asgard to be set up.
In the Avengers facility, we see Natasha Romanoff training in the shooting range, by firing a gun, like the good old days. In this shot, we see that Black Widow has longer hair, which is in a braid. In this shot, she also does look like she has her red hair back. In the film, the character is going to get back the red hair, but she will have the blonde hair at the bottom, with it growing out.
I am not too sure what other weapons the character will use in the film. She will obviously need a little more than the guns, as that will not work against Thanos, but the focus is here. In the film, I am guessing she will get some other Stark weapons, maybe more glowing sticks, or a repulsor gun.
In the Avengers facility, everyone is suiting up. In this shot we see War Machine and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) putting on their helmets. War Machine's suit appears to be the new one, and it a little bulkier than the Infinity War suit, and it uses a little more grey rather than black. With War Machine, he might be using some other weapons such as the proton cannon in the film, which could be separate from the suit.
In the film, Ant-Man will most likely be the moving push for the Avengers to make a stance against Thanos once more. In the film, it is possible that the character can find a way to time travel or cross realities through being trapped in the Quantum Realm. There are a number of ways that Scott could have gotten out of the Quantum Realm, either by getting out himself, or his daughter Cassie, or one of his friends such as Luis taking Scott out of the Quantum Realm. Also, the Ant-Man suit is the same from Ant-Man and the Wasp., and I don't think he will be getting an upgrade.
Here is a shot of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), in the new suit he got in Infinity War with the cape. In this shot, it oddly looks like a hit Thanos would make on Titan II. This can be seen with the weird curved structure which we saw at the end of Infinity War, and the grass hills which are on the planet.
My guess is that out of rage, Thor used the Bifrost to got to Titan II to fight Thanos against, but maybe he didn't find the mad Titan in his hut, because Thanos could be somewhere else, such as burying the gauntlet. I was originally going to guess that the scene takes place in Norway, where the other Asgardians went, but this looks nothing like that, and the hunch back stance of Thor makes it seems like he still hasn't fully learned his lesson of being blinded by rage.
Clin Barton (Jeremy Renner) is back as Ronin. In this shot, it appears he may be back with the Avengers in action. This is because he isn't using his weapons of swords as the persona of Ronin, however, he has his bow and arrows back. I am guessing he got those back from the Avengers facility. In this shot, Clint may be looking up at some mysterious place, and the red light gives the feeling that there is a space ship of some kind coming down to Earth, maybe Tony and Nebula, or who else is rescuing them.
In the midst of a battle, Captain America is picking up and strapping in his shield. It has been a while since the last he held his shield, two years since Civil War. The suit he's wearing seems like it might be his stealth suit, from the beginning of the Winter Soldier, as we did see him in that suit in the last trailer, which may have been setting up a mission for the team to go on.
This scene most likely takes place at the beginning of the film, in the climax of the first act. In this battle, the team might be going out to fight Thanos once more, before they attempt time travel or shifting realities (anything which involves the Quantum Realm). But it seems a little intense with Cap shaking to put on the shield.
This last shot is the money shot, not with a 360-degree circle shot, or everyone running at Thanos, however, the Avengers who are on Earth walking through the Avengers facility to go to the Avenjet to get into battle. In this shot from left to right, we have Ant-Man, War Machine, Bruce Banner, Rocket Racoon, Black Widow, Thor, and Captain America. In this shot, there could be characters who were erased from the trailer. So potentially Ronin, or Tony, and Nebula, or even Captain Marvel could be walking with them.
In this shot, we do see Captain America with his shield, so either Tony was erased in this shot and gave him the shield, or Captain America grabbed the shield himself. I would like to have seen Tony give Cap the shield as a way to re-certify their friendship. That could still be the case, but this shot does not support that. Black Widow also has the shorter blonde hair instead of the red braids, so this takes place kind of early on in the film, before her hair grows, and when Ant-Man joins them.
In conclusion, that does it for the breakdown of the Avengers Endgame Superbowl tv spot. There was a lot in this trailer in terms of the characters we do see, and the settings. This footage also had a lot of expensive looking shots, which could change, like these Marvel trailers do, but what I see in here does excite me for what is to come in the Endgame.
