THE FLASH "HARRY AND THE HARRISONS" REVIEW

Season 4 Episode 21:

Hey everyone, we are back with a brand new episode of the Flash, directed by Kevin Mock. In amazing cinematography, we see team Flash recruit Katee Sackhoff's character, Amunet Black, who is going to help team Flash to stop DeVoe and his plan to dumb down everyone. Spoilers ahead for this episode of the Flash, let's recap the episode.

Wanting to warn the city about DeVoe, Iris starts to write an article about DeVoe, and Barry tells her to hold off on it for a little while. Meanwhile, Caitlin tries everything to get Killer Frost back, while Cisco and Harry get kicked out of the Council of Wells because Harry is losing his intellect. Running out of options, and needed a biological projectile, Caitlin suggests that they enlist the help of Amunet. Joe and Caitlin find Amunet, and with the Flash, they bring her back to STAR Labs. Amunet needs one thing, she needs more of her metal she controls to take down DeVoe's satellites. Caitlin also tells Amunet that she needs the device that was used on her to splice Killer Frost from her again, in order to bring Killer Frost back. Caitlin tells Amunet that she and Killer Frost will do a job for her.

Cisco and Harry create a new council of Wells, all of which were rejects of the last. The council doesn't have any solutions of Harry's intellect depletion problem, however, they tell him to use his feelings. Barry reveals his identity of Amunet as he goes with her and Caitlin to find the metal, however, its stolen. Back at STAR Labs, Caitlin tells the team about her deal with Amunet. Amunet tells Caitlin that the splicer didn't do anything, Caitlin could always control Frost. Amunet realizes that her right-hand man, Norvock stole her metal. Barry, Amunet, Caitlin, and Joe suit up to stop Novock. Barry gets poisoned, while Caitlin and Joe stop the people who stole the metal. Amunet confronts Norvock, and Barry tells her not to kill him, which Amunet relentlessly does. Amunet says she's not going to help team Flash, however, she gives them a metal bomb which can be used against DeVoe.

Back at STAR Labs, the team has one thing to use against DeVoe. Harry comes in and tells the team that DeVoe isn't acting because he has nothing to act for, meaning, that he doesn't have his wife, Marlize. Caitlin goes to Jitters with Joe, where she thanks him for advice he gave her earlier, and she is determined that she can still get Killer Frost back. The episode ends with Barry and Iris in bed, where Iris gets notifications on her phone from her DeVoe article, about where DeVoe has been, giving DeVoe nowhere to hide.

Overall, this episode of the Flash was brilliant in the way it was structured, acted out, and filmed. To start off let's go with the main plot, recruiting Amunet. The character has been a unique addition to the show, to say the least, I feel like she could have been retooled in the show a bit, however, this episode stuck with the character that has already been developed, which I can appreciate. This plot did one fabulous thing, and that was giving Caitlin and Joe a plot. The two characters worked well together and fitted into the plot of getting Killer Frost back, which I have faith will happen by the end of the season. Amunet working with team Flash was an interesting aspect of the episode. I liked how immediately Amunet guessed who Barry was "Hey, you're the speedster I captured." The contrast between the characters worked well for the plot and worked in the end fight where Amunet decides not to kill Norvock, instead she cuts off his snake eye. The ball of metal Amunet gave the team at the end of the episode was an interesting way to leave the character at the end of the season. I am guessing with only a couple episodes left, she won't return until next season. But the ball will most likely be put into a canon or something which will be shot at DeVoe, or the satellites, it should hold some significance.

Getting into the title of the episode "Harry and Harissons." We got some more alternate Harrison Wells in the episode. I am glad that we did get H. Wells back in this episode, he was one of the best parts of the last meeting. The new Well's were interesting. The episode didn't focus too much on them at all, however, we did get a sense of the character's and their alternations of Harry. The main take away from the plot was that Harry needs to use his feelings. Instead of thinking what the Thinker is thinking, feel what the Thinker is feeling. I like how that all tied into Harry's character by the end of the episode with his "complicated diagram." That was a great scene at the end there. With that joke, that might be my favorite scene in the episode. However in terms of the story, that end scene ties in with the idea that Marlize is going to work with team Flash, as teased in last week's episode, with Marlize leaving DeVoe. With Marlize joining team Flash in the season finale, she could help Harry get his intelligence back.

Danielle Panabaker was amazing in the episode as Caitlin Snow. I loved how the character was portrayed, in the way she gave a compelling performance which feeds into the plot of why she desperately wants the splicer, that last hope she has of getting Killer Frost back. I am interested to see where the character goes in the season, and whether or not she gets her powers back from DeVoe.
Tom Cavanagh was also amazing in the episode playing the five variations of the character. The two new versions we got in the episode were great, and I liked how they differentiated themselves from the other versions. The contrast in the performances is something to admire, and Cavanagh did an excellent job.
The rest of the cast in the episode was great in the roles that they played, especially as we lead into the final two episodes of the season. Starring in the episode we had Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/ The Flash), Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen), Katee Sackhoff (Amunet Black), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow), Jesse L. Martin (Joe West), Mark Sweatman (Norvock), Tom Cavanagh (Harry Wells), and Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramone/ Vibe).

In conclusion, this episode of the Flash was exciting in the way that it started to stress the idea that team Flash is running out of ideas and time. With using Amunet, the episode captured some amazing moments with Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin, who killed it. I loved the film techniques used in the episode, all of which stylized the episode in a gorgeous style, capturing some awesome action with the Flash, and also some great Harry moments. I will give this episode an 8.5 out of 10.
