CLOAK AND DAGGER TRAILER + INFINITY WAR EXPLAINED

Hey everyone, Marvel has dropped a new Cloak and Dagger trailer where we get a closer look at the characters of the show, Cloak, and Dagger and how their powers react to each other, and since we did get the new Infinity War trailer, I will discuss where this takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with regard to Infinity War. I will not do a full breakdown of this trailer because I have done that for a few other Cloak and Dagger videos before, so that'll be linked at the end.

To start off in the trailer we see the characters of Tandy and Tyrone in their everyday lives. Tandy is barely getting by, by stealing items from people. Meanwhile, Tyrone has a great life, he seems to be in the basketball team and seems to be a popular kid, however, he seems to be over his lifestyle as he has to act a certain way. The powers that the two receive are almost a physical representations of what they want, the brighter schemed powers that Tandy receive are brighter like the life she would have wanted, while Tyrone powers are based with darkness, a contrast to the bright sided life that he wants to get away from.

In the trailer, we sort of get a hint towards where Tandy an Tyrone get their powers. In the trailer, it appears that Tandy and Tyrone are together when you are hit by some type of dark matter experiment.  We know that many people in the MCU get their powers from experiments, such as the Hulk, Captain America, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage to name a few. With the Marvel comics fictional company "Roxxon" possibly being the antagonist of the series, I would assume that their powers are derived from experiments that Roxxon did with Tandy and Tyrone.

In the trailer, we grasp a glimpse of the powers that the two teens have. We have seen Tandy's powers before, creating the light daggers, which look great. However, in this trailer, we get a few extra looks at Tyrone's powers, which look awesome. In the comics Tyrone uses his cloak to transport himself and others to different places, I believe it was done using the dark dimension. I can't exactly remember the exact mechanic of the cloak in the comics, but the tv show is most likely to provide a new explainer for his powers.

Now for the Infinity War stuff. I believe that is was rumored that the show would premiere in early 2018. That has been changed to June. So it seems like the original draft of the show would take place before Infinity War. That would allow the show to avoid references to Infinity War. There is a lot of speculations as to why the show was pushed back. Most people are guessing that it is due to the show wanting to do a crossover with the Runaways tv show. That makes a lot of sense with the shows having a similar age range for characters, and also in the comics, Cloak, and Dagger meet the Runaways in their journey. Any show or television show which comes out between Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4 is most likely taking place before Infinity War, just because it seems like Infinity War will shake up the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Logistically, Clock and Dagger would not be in Infinity War due to a number of factors such as contracts and the script for Infinity War most likely being drafted before the Cloak and Dagger series was conceived. There is also the fact that Marvel Studios is separate from Marvel Television and the Marvel Studios are too busy with the movies to focus what is going on with the tv shows. I go into more depth about this in the Defenders explainer which is linked at the end.
But in universe, the question would arrive, why would Tony recruit Tandy and Tyrone to fight Thanos. Well, Tony seems like he wants to keep the fight contained to the Avengers, and not let anyone who has powers is killed because of him. And also, they are kids, if Cloak and Dagger, Tony would not want to be responsible for the death of two teens. In Infinity War, Spiderman is not called in by Tony to fight Thanos, however, he gets involved by himself. I would doubt that Tony would want a kid to fight Thanos.

In conclusion, this Cloak and Dagger trailer get me a little more excited, especially after seeing more of the powers of Cloak. I will most likely be doing episode reviews of the show, because nothing else will be on in June, and this is only ten episodes. I would like to hear your thoughts on the trailer and your excitement for Cloak and Dagger, let me know by dropping a comment below. As always thanks for reading, take care.
