BLACK WIDOW SOLO FILM CONFIRMED

It has been confirmed that a Black Widow solo film is in the works at Marvel. The story came from Entertainment Weekly where it was stated that a potential writer has been hired to take on the screenplay for a film on everyone's red hair spy. The writer who is said to be doing the screenplay is Jac Schaeffer. You may know her work from the Disney animated short,  Olaf's Frozen Adventure. Schaeffer has done other stuff, however, that is the most recent work she has done. She is working on another film, Nasty Woman, which is set to release this year.

This is all awesome news about having the Screenplay writer potentially hired, but let's look at all a Black Widow solo film could be. Scarlett Johansson is one of the core characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a while and after eight years, she is well deserving of her own film. A lot of people seem to be interested in a Black Widow origin story. How Natasha Romanoff was trained as a Russian assassin. That would be kind of interesting, but we did see a glimpse of that in Age of Ultron. Personally, I would prefer a film which is not a prequel to the character's story. It would get a little boring after a while, seeing the character under in the red room. I am not a fan of prequels that don't have a twist because we already know the ultimate fate of the charcter and the film feels like an unnecessary story. The only sort of exception to that is the Captain Marvel movie. Which is a prequel to the MCU, but yet it is the first chapter for the character of Captain Marvel.

In a solo Black Widow film, there is a lot that could be done. I just said earlier I am not a fan of prequels which do not have a twist which brings a new light to a character we have seen before in the future. I am not saying I would like a prequel, but a film with flashbacks. In the Black Widow film, I would like to see Natasha Romanoff on her own espionage adventure tracking down other members of the Red room academy she was a part of. In the film, there could be flashbacks to when she was in the Red Room, and how Natasha meet other assassins who are on her level. We could see that Natasha somehow trained other Red room members to be a better assassin than she was, and now in present day, she has to stop them.

The film could build up to an ultimate villain who was trained in the Red room, there have been other Black Widow's in the comic's before, maybe Natasha could fight one of them. This film I would like to see take place after Infinity War and Avengers 4, but if Black Widow does not survive (which is not likely), then the film would have to take place earlier. As every Marvel film does these days, there is always another fellow Avenger in the film. Depending on when the film takes place, the partner would vary. If the film takes place after Avengers 4 I would like to see the Winter Solider, the Hulk, or Scarlet Witch team up with Black Widow, that is if they survive the Infinity Wars. If this film takes place earlier, then the teammate Black Widow would take along would most likely be Hawkeye, or even Captain America, depending on how far back this film takes place.

Anyway, Scarlett Johansson leading a Black Widow solo film excites me so much. I absolutely love the character and hope she survives the Infinity Wars to bring a bad ass story in the MCU. This film could potentially come to the screen in the next four years, that is my prediction, some time in phase four. I would love to hear your thoughts on the potential Black Widow solo film, and how would you like to see it play out, would you want a brand new story with some flashbacks or would you like an origin story, comment below your opinion. And I would also like to know what fellow Avenger would you like to see cameo. As always thanks for reading, take care.
