STAR WARS THE LAST JEDI KYLO REN DISCUSSION
Today let's talk about Ben Solo, Kylo Ren himself in Star Wars the Last Jedi, his journey in the film and his future in the Star Wars universe. Spoilers ahead for Star Wars the Last Jedi by the way.
In the film, Ben Solo was having force connections with Rey thanks to Snoke. In the visions, Kylo tells Rey how Luke tried to kill him which we see in a flashback. Kylo brings Rey to meet Snoke who he ends up killing. Kylo decides to stick with the dark side and offers Rey a position which she refuses, thus sparking a rivalry. Kylo becomes the supreme leader of the First Order and is contempt on killing the Jedi and Resistance. Kylo has a fight with hologram Luke on Crait and losses out on destroying the Resistance.
I want to start off by saying that Adam Driver was brilliant as Kylo Ren. He bought the emotional depth to his performance and portrayal of the character. I enjoy the fact that the character knows he will never be Darth Vader, however, he still tries to be.
In the film Kylo is now set up as the supreme leader of the Dark side, being in charge of all the resources of the First Order, topping General Hux. With Rey leaving Kylo, he decided that he needs to kill everyone that could possibly redeem him so he can become the strongest version of himself.

One of the coolest parts of the film was the flashback of Luke about to kill Ben. It was great seeing what drove Ben Solo to become Kylo Ren. It was an interesting way to set up the villain showing that one of the people he trusted, his own uncle, was about to kill him, thus giving him the rage to fall from Luke. We all new Kylo was seduced by the Dark side somehow, but it was more being pushed by the Light side that triggered him.
The future of Kylo Ren has two paths, he will either die or be redeemed. The route of his death in Episode IX would close off the Skywalker story, which would be an interesting twist in the ending, showing that the saga does not need a single family lineage to go on. The route of Kylo bring redeemed would be an average ending to the trilogy. The biggest complaint I would have is how would Rey be one to redeem Kylo. It would not be as satisfactory as it could be, that's unless Kylo and Rey hook up the end of the film, which would also be kind of weird.
One last thing to point out is that Kylo could have been lying to Rey about her parents. If you are not convinced of Rey's heritage, Kylo could be lying and we could find out in Episode IX. There is a nice meaning that Rey comes from nothing but can be something, however, all the set up did hint to a much more impressive origin of Rey.

In conclusion, Kylo Ren is an exciting villain in the Star Wars universe who is portrayed by Adam Driver who puts an amazing effort into playing the character. The Last Jedi was a neat step in the character's development, showing his journey as the antagonist. Please, I would like to hear your thoughts on Kylo Ren in the Last Jedi down in the comments below. As always thanks for reading, and may the force be with you.
