ADVENTURE TIME "MARCY & HUNSON" REVIEW

Season 10 Episode 7:

We are back with a brand new review on the latest Adventure Time episode where we see the return of Marceline's father, Hunson, to Ooo where we see him reconnect with Finn, Jake, and his daughter Marceline. So spoilers ahead for the episode, let's recap.

The episode opens with Peppermint Buttler enchanting a new sword for Finn to fight against Princess Bubblegum's evil relatives. In the process, Peppermint Buttler summons Hunson from the Nightosphere, to enchant the new sword. He does so and Peppermint Butler lets him visit Marceline, however, he puts a lock on his powers. Now a changed man who does not suck souls, Finn and Jake take Hunson to Marceline's place for a visit.

At Marceline's house, we see Hunson reconnect with his daughter, however, he is having a difficult time. Jake then accidentally reveals that Marceline is performing at a concert. Hunson suggest that they all go. At the concert in a ghost town, Marceline performs on stage as Hunson, Finn, Jake, and Peppermint Butler watch.  Hunson sees a viewer filming the concert, so Hunson takes his camera and films the concert up front. Hunson steps into the concert and tells everyone that he is Marceline's father.

We then see Princess Bubblegum's cousin, Chicle stir up some audience members to get into an argument with Hunson. One of the members throws some Ecto-Plazm at Marcelin's guitar ax, which Marceline says to Hunson "you always ruin everything". Hunson then gets into a fight with some of the members. However, Hunson has no powers so he can't fight back. Peppermint Buttler is about to give Hunson his powers, however, he is knocked out by cousin Chicle. Finn sees this, but Chicle runs away. Finn then uses his new sword to save Marceline and Hunson, as they fly away with Jake and Peppermint Buttler.

The episode ends in a Pizza restaurant where Princess Bubblegum apologizes to Marceline and Hunson for cousin Chicle. Hunson gives Marceline a t-shirt and then asks her when she is getting pregnant.

This episode of Adventure Time was such a great, classic episode. The episode had the random humor which works so well in the show, Hunson was the one that bought most of the jokes in the episode. This episode also brought some great story and character development to Marceline and Hunson. I enjoy the father-daughter relationship that these two characters have with each other, and it was great to see how Marceline feels about her father, and how she views him as almost an antagonist to her entire life. I also enjoyed the development of Hunson in the episode, and how he is trying to become a better person. I can't remember that last time we saw him, but he does seem like a different person than the image most viewers have of the character.

The voice cast of the episode was exceptional as always, we had Olivia Olson (Marceline), Martin Olson (Hunson), Jeremy Shada (Finn Mertens), John DiMaggio (Jake), Steve Little (Peppermint Buttler), Tom Kenny (Cousin Chicle), and Hynden Walch (Princess Bubblegum).

In conclusion, this episode of Adventure Time was an absolutely wonderful one. Although the story was simple, it was yet effective, and the episode worked as a whole with the addition of the humor, the voice acting, as well as the animation. I will give this episode a 9 out of 10. I would like to hear your thoughts on the episode down in the comments below. As always thanks for reading, take care.

  1. This episode is great. To be honest Hunson Abadeer is one of my least favorite characters on Adventure Time. He deserved to lose his powers and gettin beaten up by the Ghosts
