ARROW "CRISIS ON EARTH-X PART 2" REVIEW

Season 6 Episode 8:

The second part of the crossover is out, that being the Arrow episode, there was a lot that happened in the episode regarding Arrow characters and the crossover as a whole. Spoilers ahead for the episode, let's recap.

The episode picks up straight from the Supergirl episode where the team is in STAR Labs. Oliver and the others go to talk to Prometheus, who takes off his mask to reveal Oliver's best friend, Tommy. Oliver and Felicity freak out, as Oliver has a private conversation with Tommy.

In the main room of the Labs, Harry tells everyone that the Nazi's came from Earth-X, an alternate reality where the Nazi's won World War Two. Oliver talks to Earth-X Tommy who gets sentimental with Oliver for a second until he pulls out his tooth and drinks a poison and Oliver is once again too late to save Tommy from death.

On Earth-X, Nazi Oliver gets an alert that Tommy dies. Oliver nearly gets into a fight with the Blitzen Flash but is stopped by Supergirl. Back on Earth-1, Felicity tells Curtis about what happened, as she has a talk with Oliver about their relationship. Meanwhile, Martin talks to Jax, who tells Martin that he will miss Martin more than anything else when he leaves. While that goes down Alex is questioning her choices of breaking her relationship with Maggie.

The team discovers that there was a robbery by the Nazi's at a facility, so Kara and Barry suit up and get to the facility while they wait for Oliver on his motorbike. The heroes are faced by their Earth-X counterparts, who unmask themselves, which they freak out. The Blitzen Flash drops the prism he is holding and tells Barry that it is him, Eobard Thawne "straight from Earth-1", and that he put on Harry's face because he wanted to. Barry chases Eobard while Oliver shoots Overgirl with a kryptonite arrow. Supergirl fights Overgirl and knocks her down. Then Overgirl uses her laser eyes to destroy a construction building. The heroes save the people as the Earth-X villains get away with their prism.

Back at STAR Labs, Barry brings back the kryptonite arrow with Overgirl's blood on it, and they start to track her. In the brail room, Barry and Iris look at holograms of Thawne and Barry is scared that he is back. Oliver walks in and tells them that they found Overgirl and the others. The team suits up and Barry, Oliver, Kara, Alex, Sara, Martin and Jax head over to the site. At the site, the heroes fight the Mazi's including Overgirl and Reverse Flash, but no Grüner Pfeil.

At STAR Labs, Harry accidentally walks into Grüner Pfeil and pulls an alarm. Mick gets his heat gun and Caitlin turns into Killer Frost to fight Grüner Pfeil, while Felicity and Iris hide. Mick and Killer Frost get defeated by Grüner Pfeil, however Curtis, Dinha, and Rene show up and fight Grüner Pfeil. However, they all get defeated by their Earth-X captain. Iris and Felicity witness the Nazi's put team Arrow in Meta-Human cells as they figure out what to do.

Back with the others, they are all starting to lose their fight with Oliver on the ground, but the team manages to get the upper hand and fight the Nazi's and their Earth-X counterparts. But then Earth-X Metallo comes out and takes down Kara as well as everyone else. The heroes are captured and put in anti-power handcuffs. Reverse Flash tells Barry that he will kill him for all the times that Barry killed him. Grüner Pfeil talks and tells the heroes that if they give up their Kara, they will leave their Earth. Grüner Pfeil explains that they need Kara for a heart transplant with Overgirl's failing heart, as she has too much solar radiation. Kara gives herself up and Metallo knocks out the other heroes. The heroes wake up and find themselves in a concentration camp on Earth-X.

Overall this was a great episode. I am loving this crossover. The parts of this episode in particular that stood out for me was the interaction between the characters. I absolutely love the line "super speed, I don't have it", it made for some great humor with Oliver being the only one at this point without powers. The tower saving scene that followed that line was alright, there CG was a little off, but that is something to expect from these shows. The twist with the Reverse Flash being the Blitzen Flash was great. I thought that the Blitzen Flash was from Earth-X, but he is from Earth-1, which does tease a bunch of stuff for Barry's descendants. The end battle scene was absolute fire. The effort of the choreography put into this scene was great, and it was glorious to watch. I also enjoyed the re-introduction of Metallo into the tv shows. The thing here is that this Metallo looked way different when he last appeared on Supergirl, so how did she recognize him. But anyway, he looks more comic book accurate and it is awesome seeing Earth-X have a team of supervillains of their own.

The biggest part of the crossover was definitely at the beginning with the reveal that Earth-X Prometheus is Tommy. It was a special moment to see on screen, after all the theories of Prometheus identity last year. It was sad to see Tommy go once again, but at least we saw him on the show once again and it was great seeing Oliver meet Tommy again.

The cast of the episode was absolutely awesome, especially with the introduction of team Arrow in the crossover. In the cast we had Stephen Amell (Green Arrow/ Grüner Pfeil), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl/ Overgirl), Grant Gustin (Barry /the Flash), Candice Patton (Iris West), Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers), Caity Lotz (Sara/ White Canary), Victor Garber (Martin Stein), Franz Drameh (Jax/ Firestorm),  Dominic Purcell (Mick/Heatwave), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin/ Killer Frost), Tom Cavanagh (Harry/ Reverse Flash), Juliana Harkavy (Dinah Drake/ Black Canary), Echo Kellum (Curtis/ Mr. Terrific), Rick Gonzalez (Rene/ Wilddog), and Colin Donnell (Tommy/ Prometheus).

In conclusion, this episode of the crossover was a definite standout, as both a part of the crossover and an Arrow episode, as it had the big Tommy twist. I will give this episode of Arrow a 9 out of 10. Please comment your thoughts on the episode down below. The third and fourth part of the crossover will come tomorrow in the Fash and Legends of Tomorrow episodes. But until then, as always thanks for reading, take care.
