SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME TRAILER BREAKDOWN
Hey everyone, we are back with a brand new Spider-man Far From Home trailer which shows off a lot about the definitive end for phase three, and what Jon Watts is bringing in this Spider-man sequel. But before we get started, this trailer has a warning, that it has major spoilers for Avengers Endgame. So if you have not seen Avengers Endgame, do not watch the trailer, and do not read this breakdown, it will also have spoilers.
But getting past that, let’s get onto the breakdown
The trailer opens with Peter Parker really upset, about the events of Avengers Endgame, more specifically, the death of Tony Stark/ Iron Man. Peter Parker seems to be swinging around in the Iron Spider suit back on Earth. I know that the suit is more protective and has more features, however, it appears as though Peter doesn’t want to let go of it, as it is a reminder of what Tony did for him, and who Tony is.
In the MCU going ahead, Peter seems like he will want the void of Iron Man in a way, but he knows he never will. I guess it’s a good way to show how much of an impact Tony Stark has had on this universe and the hole that he has almost left with his death.
This film will also have a lot of Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau), as Happy most likely made an oath to Tony Stark to look out for Peter. If you really think about, apart from Happy, Peter doesn’t really have anyone to rely on. Iron Man won't save Peter anymore, and everyone that Peter faces is just up to him. If Peter falls in a frozen lake, he’s dead. Peter faces a significant amount of danger, but it's nice seeing that even after death, Tony still has placed a way for Peter to be looked out for, in the form of Happy. Happy also does make a great point that Tony wouldn’t have killed Thanos (and also letting himself die) if it meant that everyone else like Peter, Peter, Morgan, and the rest of the world was safe.
Once on his Europe school trip in 2023, Peter is brought to this SHIELD set up by Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) who introduces him to Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). It was revealed at a comic convention that at the beginning of the film, Mysterio is going to be working with Spiderman under SHIELD in the film. However, we know that’s not fully the case, as Mysterio is a notable villain in the comics, and is the main villain of this film, with him most likely controlling the elemental monsters, Syndrome style, with his special effects powers.
“Mr. Beck is from Earth, just not ours. The snap tore a hole in our dimension”- Nick Fury
“You're saying there’s a multiverse?”-Peter Parker
So it seems like we are going straight there, the multiverse is happening in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Multiverse has been teased in Doctor Strange, and also was seen in Avengers Endgame. Because, remember, every time that the Avengers went back in time, they created a brand new branching timeline, (some of which were mostly fixed) however brand new timelines, and therefore Earths in the multiverse were created.
The multiverse being introduced in the flesh in this film is really interesting, as it obviously opens up a gateway to many different possibilities in the MCU alone, and also the Spider-verse is being teased in this film. There is a lot to talk about in terms of the rest of the MCU and how the multiverse relates to that, and also how Spider-Man sequels can use the multiverse, however, I will talk about that later.
In this film, the multiverse is going to explain how Mysterio is on our Earth, and he is most likely going to say that the elemental monsters in the film are from his Earth as well. In the film, we know that Mysterio is lying about being a hero, and the elemental will most likely wind up being illusions made by him of some sort. I am guessing that Mysterio is from another Earth, and crossed over into this one, and is not lying about that part. However, with just about everything else he seems like he is lying about who he really is.
I do like how in this scene Peter lists off all the other hero’s pets that Nick Fury could have called to help fight the elemental. But going through the characters her lists, Captain Marvel is off doing missions in deep space, while Thor is off with the Guardians of the Galaxy. I also do like how Nick Fury gives Peter that boost of confidence and reminding him that he did go to space in Infinity War. In the film, Nicky Fury knows that someone will track Peter’s identity down (like MJ does in the trailer) with him and Spider-man being in Europe at the same time, which is why Peter will be wearing the black stealth suit.
In conclusion, this does it for the breakdown of the Spider-Man Far From Home trailer. There wasn’t too much new footage, which is why this is kept short, however, the trailer does open up so many possibilities with the multiverse being name-dropped. This is going to be a real game changer going forward in the MCU.
