TOP 10 ANTICIPATED FILMS OF 2019
Its a new year, and that means that there are new movies coming out, remakes, reboots, sequels, and other original films, and just mainly the big films which are on my radar. So here is my list of the ten most anticipated films coming out in 2019 ranked by yours truly. So let's go.
9. Glass
Release date: January 18, 2019
The next sequel in M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable series, Glass brings together both Unbreakable and Split in a gritty superhero film which looks interesting. We see the showdown of David Dunn versus the Beast which looks interesting, and I can not wait to see the film explore the concept of enhanced individuals in the real world, one like our own.
8. The Lion King
Release date: July 19, 2019
Read more: Disney
The Lion King is a film which is a timeless classic, and live action, I mean photorealistic adaptation of the Lion King does get me excited in a way, seeing this narrative presented in a way which looks compelling, and which we can relate more to on a real-world bases does make this film look like it will be a hit. The only problem is that this film will be as good or not as good as the original, it goes for most 'live-action' adaptations, it can not outdo the original.
7. Captain Marvel
Release date: March 8, 2019
Read more: Captain Marvel, Marvel
The film before the first 11 years of the MCU comes to an end, Captain Marvel. The character of Captain Marvel is someone who I haven't read too much of and has some interesting renditions throughout her comic run. But I am excited to see Marvel Studios adapt the character on the big screen, to see what they can do on building a character up themselves, with drawing loose on her comic origin. And of course, I want to see her in action before Endgame
Release date: October 4, 2019
The Joaquin Phoenix solo Joker animated film is something that I have been curious about ever since its announcement. The previews of the film look interesting with the design of the Joker and the overall setting of what appears to be a 1980's Gotham. There are a few rumors which I have heard of with the film, which do get me excited and places an interesting twist on the character of the Joker.

6. John Wick 3: Parabellum
Release date: May 17, 2019
Both John Wick films have been amazing from the story it has told, and especially the action scenes, which are incredible. Parabellum seems like it will take the film up a notch, with the film have Wick fight his way past the bounty on his head. I am excited to see what Keanu Reeves brings to the table in his performance and stunts for this film and how they can outdo the other two films.
5. IT Chapter Two
Release date: September 6, 2019
I loved the first IT film, there was a charm to it which bought the horror element of the film to a whole new level. The story of IT is interesting, and ever since the announcement of the film at the end of the first film, I have been excited, waiting to see how the story would be adapted with the kids in the present day and not as kids anymore, however, now as adults. There is a lot to be excited about with the 27-year time jump coming later this year.
4. Shazam!
Release date: April 5, 2019
Read more: Shazam!, DC
Aquaman was a great film, and it seems like Warner Bros is taking a lighter approach to adapting the DC Comics heroes in live action, and the trailers of Shazam have been evident by that. I love the character of Billy Batson from the other mediums I have seen him from the animated films to Young Justice, and the new 52 comics of Shazam. This is a character who fits right in the lighter tone, that this world needs, and it seems like Shazam will be a great commentary on DC films while telling an awesome story which is essentially Big with superheroes.
3. Toy Story 4
Release date: June 21, 2019
Read more: Toy Story 4, Disney, Pixar
When thinking of perfect trilogies, the Toy Story trilogy comes to mind, with each film outdoing the last, from the twists and turns which they take, the emotional backstories that these characters are given, and the overall arch which the films create. Toy Story 3 was the perfect way to end this beloved trilogy, but here we are. Toy Story 4 is coming out this year. I am interested to see what the Toys are doing at Bonny's house, and the story told with Forky, Bunny and Ducky, and the return of Bo Peep.
2. Detective Pikachu
Release Date: May 10, 2019
Read more: Detective Pikachu, Pokemon
I have always been a Pokemon fan, and one of my first introductions to the franchise, even before the games, was the anime. It was great seeing Ash and Pikachu travel through the regions in the Pokemon world, and the Pokemon films got me excited. But I have always wanted to see Pokemon taken to the big screen. When thinking of a Pokemon live-action debut, I was thinking of a film focusing on Ash, or even on Red, but Detective Pikachu seems like it's the best. Although the game isn't the best, I have faith that the film will adapt a story which can captivate these characters and more importantly the pokemon, which from the trailer, look fantastic.
1. Avengers Endgame
Release date: April 26, 2019
Read more: Avengers Endgame, Marvel
Well, why would Endgame not be at the top of the list, the second part to the biggest film of 2018. Avengers Endgame is something which I have been excited for, for a while, when it was announced and titled as "Infinity War part 2" back in 2014. This film is going to bring together all of our heroes who survived the snap, and it will be interesting to see everyone come together and assemble after Civil War and Infinity War, to fight Thanos once more, who will most likely be the fatal end of some of the heroes. The concepts, characters, and overall story of this film get me excited, and I can not wait for the Endgame.
So, that is my list of the films I am the most excited for this year. Most of them are at the beginning, and there are a lot further down the line which I am excited to see, such as Far From Home, the Lego Movie 2, and the Sonic movie- which will be very interesting.
