DOCTOR STRANGE 2 CONFIRMED
The Sorcerer Supreme had been in at least one film since his debut in his solo film in 2016, and it seems like that Doctor Strange is getting a sequel confirmed by Kevin Feige, the CEO of Marvel Studios. I will discuss the potential release date of the film, and what we could see happening in the film.
There has been no large map of phase four of Marvel films announced like what was done in 2014 with phase three. However, we have been getting the list of Marvel films happening beyond Avengers 4. Most of us sort of knew that Doctor Strange would get his own sequel at some point, but now we have it confirmed by the man himself. Kevin Feige said that Doctor Strange was one of the characters he was the most excited to see on screen. So with Fiege having a liking for the character, it would almost go without saying that the character would be in the future of the MCU.
If I had to look at a date for Doctor Strange 2, I would place it in 2021, potentially 2022. There are a few films which are coming before like Guardians vol. 3, Spiderman Far From Home, the Black Widow solo film, and Black Panther 2. It is a little difficult to see what will be happening in Phase Four, as there are a lot of films based off existing characters like Doctor Strange two which need to be released, and there will most likely be films based on new characters in the MCU in Phase four, like potentially Nova.
But getting into the potential story for the film, assume we would see the continuation of Doctor Strange facing off against Baron Mordo who went off the edge in the first film, taking out sorcerers, thinking that there were too many. Mordo may end up being the villain of the film, however, I feel like Mordo would team up with Dormammu in the third film of the trilogy. Clea is a character who could be introduced in the film to team up with Stephen and Wong. She is a significant character in Doctor Strange comics, and will most likely be on screen sooner rather than later.
But I would say that Avengers 4 would heavily impact Doctor Strange seeing as what might happen with the Time Stone, and any new abilities Strange learns in the film. I am curious to see how big of an impact fading to dust will have on Strange. It would be interesting to see Stephen have a form of PTSD as Tony had in Iron Man 3 from the events of the first Avengers film.
In conclusion, Doctor Strange two will be a little while away in Phase four. I am sure that the director of the first film, Scott Derrickson will come back to direct this film, and it will be awesome to see the Sorcerer Supreme helm his own film once again.
What do you think of the Doctor Strange sequel being announced? Let me know all your speculation and theories down in the comments below.
