AVENGERS 4 CONCEPT ART BREAKDOWN

Today on the internet some Avengers 4 concept art was leaked thanks to HeroX, showing off our new team, including the new characters for the next film, costume upgrades, and potential story beats that this teases. This art I would confidently speculate is not a fake, because there is way too much detail and effort in this for it to be a fake. Spoilers for Avengers Infinity War, and possibly Ant-Man and the Wasp.

So below is the artwork, and it shows off the team from left to right we have Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Nebula (Karen Gillian), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper), Black Widow (Scarlet Johansson), the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), War Machine (Don Cheadle), and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd).

So to start off, I want to talk about Captain Marvel, one of the new characters in the Avengers team who we see her costume for the first time in their original colors. With the costume, this is exactly what I was expecting to see from the character in her costume, it looks very comic accurate in terms of the design, and the colors. the Sache that she normally has in her hips is looking more like a belt, something more conventional.

Thor and Nebula look the same as to what they looked like in Infinity War. Thor I wouldn't expect to change much considering that he got a costume upgrade in Infinity War. Rocket Racoon also looks the same. He has no gun here, most likely because they do not want anything to be blocking any other character, such as Rocket's guns. It is also possible that the artist doesn't know what gun Rocket will be holding, something that the visual effects team most likely may only know about.

Iron Man in this art appears to be sporting the Mark 48 armor as he was in Infinity War. In Avengers 4, of course, Tony will get a suit upgrade. In the film he will get the Mark 50 suit because remember, the mark 49 was the second Hulkbuster armor that Banner was using in Wakanda. The Mark 50 suit may have some spoilery aspects embedded to it, such as a potentially Infinity gauntlet, so it seems like they do not want to spoil that surprise. It is also possible that the concept artist did not get art for the mark 50, as that may be something that they don't want to be leaked.

Black Widow has some interesting upgrades here. First of all, she has her red hair back which is great. The hairstyle in this art looks a little short than what it has ever been, however, it seems like that the hairstyle that Natasha will have in the film will be the same as her Infinity War one, however with the orange hair instead of the light blonde. The suit that Black Widow has in this art looks to be similar to what she wore in Infinity War, minus the green vest. So essentially, it is similar to her Civil War suit. And once more, she is wielding a new staff.

The Hulk is one of the most notable differences in this image, with a full body suit on the green beast. There are a couple of things which could be happening in this. A new suit could be given to Bruce banner to wear, and like his pants, the whole suit stretches out, creating for extra padding and warmth for the Hulk. The other theory which many people are having is that this is Professor Hulk, who is essentially Bruce Banner's mind in the Hulk's body, the best version of the Hulk with both entities co-operating together. However, with Bruce not Hulking out in Infinity War, something seems to change between the two, and the Hulk comes out.

Captain America is one of the biggest changes here. First of all, clean shave, there is no Captain America beard. Being out of hiding, it makes sense. But the suit that Captain America is wearing is similar to that of the Civil War suit, however, it appears that there are the scales on the suit. The scale suit is something that has been iconic to Captain America in the comics, and it was never done in the films because it most likely looked too silly. However, it appears that that has gone out the window, and these are the scales on his suit. This is most likely a Stark made suit which Tony made before their falling out. In this shot, Steve is not wielding his shield. It is rumored that he is getting a new shield, however, I think that Steve will get his old shield back for the fight.

Here we have the forgotten archer, Hawkeye, he is back in the fight against Thanos after being excluded. In this art, Clint seems to be wearing a similar suit to what we wore in Civil War, which makes sense as that was his last adventure. However, there were plenty of rumors that Hawkeye is going to go by the alias "Ronin" from the comics, with a new suit to go with. This is because of the speculation that Clint will be in a darker place in this film as he saw his whole family get turned to dust. But nevertheless, it is great to see Hawkeye here.

War Machine has a new armor which is much bulkier, and 'tankier' than what we have seen. The shaping of this reminds me a little bit of the Hulkbuster armor for some reason. However, Rhode's new suit will have the same functionalities as his old suit, with an arsenal of weapons. It is possible that Tony uses nanotech for this new upgrade, and the armor can fold out of Rhode's part bionic legs.

And last of all is Ant-Man, who was also absent in Infinity War. In this art, he has his suit which he will be wearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp which is a new suit. That film is taking place before Infinity War, or around the same time. In that film, we will see a new hero in the MCU, Wasp, who is absent from this art piece. I believe that in this film the Wasp is not going to be in it a whole lot as she most likely tuned to dust, whether that be a line in Avengers 4 or a post credit scene at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Well, that is a rundown of the whole team in Infinity War, with all their new costume upgrades from Infinity War. The art piece seems to be depicting a battle on a foreign planet, which I would guess happens at the end of the film because the Avengers seem like they will be using a flux capacitor and go time travel to stop Thanos. This art piece looks phenomenal and makes me so much more excited for next year for Avengers 4.

What do you think of this concept art, and which characters from this are you most excited to see? Comment below to let me know. As always thanks for reading, take care.
