DEADPOOL 2 NON SPOILER REVIEW
Finally, we are here for Deadpool 2, the sequel to the 2016 R-rated hit, of Deadpool. This is a non-spoiler review of the film where I will not spoil any plot twist or major plot threads of which there were a lot of. I might compare this a little to the first film, however, let's get on to it.
With mysterious time traveler, Cable (Josh Brolin), coming from the future, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) must suit up as not Green Lanter, however as Deadpool, to protect a mutant kid, Fire Fist (Jullian Dennison). Not being able to stop this threat alone, Deadpool needs to assemble his "forward thinking, gender-neutral group, X-Force", with characters such as newcomer Domino (Zazie Beetz), and some familiar faces of Dopinder (Karan Soni), Weasel (TJ Miller), Colossus (Stefan Kapicic), and Teenage Negasonic Warhead (Briana Hillbrand), to save the kid and stop Cable.
To start off, I absolutely loved this film. I enjoyed this more than the first film. We dived deeper into the character of Deadpool, who felt more like Deadpool in this film, and that had to do with the acting of Ryan Reynolds which was superb. From the humor to the violence, the way that Deadpool was portrayed in this film was great. The humor in this film was similar to the first film, however, I liked more the humor in this film than the first, as it felt a little smarter and at times outright absurd.
With the production issues of Tim Miller leaving, the film surprisingly didn't suffer. The scope that the film stayed on, that being relatively small, worked in its favor. I liked how the film upped the anti, however, it didn't go overboard, so it felt like a Deadpool film.
The film not only is great in the humor in action, there are some great themes which help explore the character of Wade Wilson, which was nice to see. it humanized the character and created for an interesting side to the character which has not been explored a whole lot before. The theme is tied heavily into the plot, so everything tied back up in the end.
The returning characters in the film were great. We got a little more Colossus which was great, as he got kind of a story arc in this film. Dopinder and Weasle were great, along with Negasonic Warhead. However, the film does thrive on the performances of the new characters.
Josh Brolin as Cable was amazing. The actor didn't have as much of an emotional performance as he did in Infinity War, however, a compelling character was portrayed on screen, and Brolin did a fabulous job.
I have to say my favorite character in the film was Zazie Beetz as Domino. She was amazing in the film, from the jokes and action the character had, she was one of my favorite parts of the film, and it seems like she will be in future films down the line which I am excited about.
I also have to say that Rob Delany was great as Peter.
In conclusion, this film was a fun time, which had plenty to offer in terms of the humor in it, as well as action, and themes which tied this film together along with the acting. Deadpool 2 was a better film than the first one in my opinion, which was hard to challenge, however it was pulled off.
