ARROW 'THE TIES THAT BLIND" REVIEW
Season 6 Episode 22:
Hey everyone, we are back with a brand new episode of Arrow, directed by Tara Miele, and this episode shows how Diaz is out to kill Oliver, and all his friends and family. Spoilers ahead for this episode of Arrow, let's recap.
In a family dinner, Oliver gets a warning from Anatoly, Oliver, Felicity, and William are ambushed by Diaz's men, as are all the other members of Team Arrow. With all of Diaz's men taken care of by the members of Team Arrow, their loved ones are put into Argus care, as the team regroups with Lyla in the new recruits lair. Diaz' men destroy the old team Arrow bunker, as the team figures out what to do. With a tip from Anatoly, team Arrow assembles to confront Diaz in a van. Curtis gets injured, as Diaz scrambles for a flash drive, whole team Arrow flees as the Diaz controlled police are arriving.
Back at their bunker, Felicity speculates that on the flash drive is everyone who us under Diaz's payroll. Felicity and Lyla go to the police station where Lyla places a device for Felicity to collect that data from the flash drive. Diaz confronts Lyla as Oliver and John help her out, as Felicity gets the device and the four flee the station. In the new recruits lair, Felicity starts to decrypt the information, however, if she stops halfway, none of the data will be decrypted. Diaz gets the location of the team in the base, so a gas is released. Felicity says that she needs to stay, so Oliver stays with her. Rene gives Oliver a trigger to blow the whole base up. The others make it out of the base using a secret back door. Felicity and Oliver have to leave the decryption, as the two are confronted by Diaz himself. With the two knocked over, Oliver presses the trigger, as the base starts to explode. Everyone makes it out and heads to Argus.
At Argus, Oliver tells Felicity that they need more help. The episode ends with Oliver going so FBI agent, Samanda Watson for help as he reveals he is "the Green Arrow".
Overall, this episode was a well-made episode. The thing that brought this episode together was the way in which it was filmed. There was so amazing cinematography creating awesome shots. That opening scene with Black Canary was amazing. It was filmed amazingly, and it showed how much of a bad ass she was. There were other great scenes in the episode. I liked Diggle and Lyla in the episode. They were great together, especially in how their fights paralleled each other.
Juliana Harkavy was amazing in the episode as Black Canary. She played the character amazingly, where she isn't so afraid to cross the line, but ultimately, she still feels like a hero. I am excited where this character is taken in the finale because Harkavy does a fabulous job with the character.
Audrey Marie Anderson was great to see return to Arrow this episode. Her role was interesting, as she was pivotal to being the back up for Team Arrow. I am not too sure if Anderson will be in the finale next week, but I guess we'll see.
The cast of the episode was great. Everyone had some amazing performances, expressing the dire state which these characters and the city are in. Starring in the episode we had Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen/ Green Arrow), Emilly Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), David Ramsey (John Diggle/ Spartan), Audrey Marie Anderson (Lyla Diggle), Juliana Harkavy (Dinah Drake/ Black Canary), Rick Gonzalez (Rene Ramirez/ Wilddog), Echo Kellum (Curtis Holt/ Mr. Teriffic), David Nykl (Anatoly Knyazev), Jack Moore (William Queen), Kathleen Gati (Raisa), Eliza Faria (Zoe Ramirez), Venus Terzo (Dr. Schwartz), and Kirk Acevedo (Ricardo Diaz).
In conclusion, this episode of Arrow was exciting. I liked how the episode pushed team Arrow back together. I am sure by the season finale, the team will be willing to be back together, seeing as bad everything got when they weren't together. The episode had some great scenes with Black Canary and also I loved Lyla returning. I will give this episode of Arrow an 8.5 out of 10.
