AVENGERS INFINITY WAR POST CREDIT SCENE BREAKDOWN

Avengers Infinity War follows the common Avengers tradition of only having one post credit scene. In Age Of Ultron (2015) we saw Thanos claim his Infinity Gauntlet leading into its 2018 predecessor. In Infinity War there is one post-credit scene at the very end of the credits. The scene sets up two films following Infinity War. Spoiler warning for the post-credit scene of Avengers Infinity War, as it spoils the film itself.

To recap, we see Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), in an SUV with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). The two are driving in a city where Hill reports on alien activity in Wakanda (referring to the third act of the film). The two see a car crash and go to investigate, however, no one is in the car. The two witness people turn to dust and disappear as they see a helicopter crash. Hill starts to turn to dust and disappears. Fury runs to his car, grabs a retro device, as he sends a signal. Not being able to finish his catchphrase (to keep the film PG-13), Fury disappears into dust. The device drops on the ground as the beacon is sent and an eight-pointed star appears on the screen, surrounded by a red and blue background.

To start off, this was a major set up for Brie Larson to debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain Marvel. The scene sets up her own solo film and her appearance as being the Calvary for the Avengers in Avengers 4, both coming out next year.

The Captain Marvel solo film is coming out in March of next year, however, the film will take place in the 1990’s. In the film, we will see the origin story of Air Force pilot Carol Danvers and how she becomes Captain Marvel. With the film being set in the past we are going to see characters from Marvel’s past such as Agent Coulson, Ronin the Accuser, and Korath. In the Captain Marvel film, we will also see a two-eyed Nick Fury. This means that in the Captain Marvel film we will see Fury befriend Danvers and potentially put her in the reserve place for the Avengers initiative before she flies into space for the next two decades.

From this post-credit scene, we got teased with some things we will see in the Captain Marvel film. With the red and blue background, it seems like Carol will state her color scheme, with her super suit. From set pictures we saw Brie Larson sporting a green and black version of the Captain Marvel suit, not that it wasn’t going to happen, but the red and blue comic book suit will be in the film. It seems as though that in the Captain Marvel film we will see Carol give Fury the device that he used in the post-credit scene to contact her.

Now the more exciting part of the post-credit scene is how it sets up Avengers 4. With half of the Avengers gone, the team is down quite a few members, with some of their strongest members gone from existence. Captain Marvel will be the one to fill the void of those missing members, as the character is one of the strongest heroes in the MCU. In Avengers 4, it is possible that Captain Marvel picks up Iron Man and Nebula on Titan before she comes to Earth. Captain Marvel will not bee only hero joining the Avengers. She will also be joined by Hawkeye, Ant-Man, and the Wasp. In Avengers 4, Captain Marvel seems like she will be the Adam Warlock of the Infinity Gauntlet comic, which reads like Avengers 4.

In conclusion, the post credit scene of Infinity War definitely got me excited. I liked how Nick Fury and Maria Hill were incorporated in the film in this scene, and how it fitted into the timeline of the film. I was sort of expecting Captain Marvel to show up in full, however, the tease of her making her way to Earth was exciting.
Let me know how excited you were with the post credit scene, and are you excited for Captain Marvel to help the surviving Avengers fight Thanos in their last dire efforts to restore the universe?

Be sure to subscribe for more Infinity War. As always thanks for reading, take care.
