Season 1 Episode 10:
We are back with a brand new episode of Black lIghtning directed by Eric Laneuville. This episode starts to build up to a climax regarding more missing meta-Human kids, all the while Jefferson has to once step up again to be a hero as Black Lightning and also as principal of Garfield high. Spoilers ahead for this episode of Black Lightning, let’s recap.
With a kid being abducted off the street due to taking green light, enabling powers, 2-bits contacts Jefferson. Anissa goes to the missing kid's facility where she finds the containers of the missing Meta-Human kids from the 1980’s, who are alive. Later on, Anissa goes to the facility with Jefferson, however, all the containers are gone. The two vigilantes are confronted by some armed guards, who they take down. Jefferson visits 2-bits as Black Lightning to get some information. With his suit malfunctioning, Jefferson sees one of his students buying some drugs. Jefferson confronts the student as the principle and tells him that he can change his life he goes to see him the next day. Meanwhile, Gambi is confronted by some members of the ASA, who abduct Gambi and ask for the identity of Black Lightning. With her powers playing up, Jenifer is tested by Lynn, who discovers she is essentially a power generator.

With visions from Will, Lala sends out his goons to sell drugs, while also preparing to take down Tobias when he returns. At school, Jefferson teaches the student some motivation lessons. Jefferson is taken away by some men, who bring him to Gambi, as leverage to get the identity of Black Lightning. Jefferson dims the lights, as Gambi takes out the goons. In the Lightning cave, Gambi is at rest, while Jefferson takes Lynn, Anissa, and Jenifer to his childhood house, to stay undercover. The episode ends with the vice principal agreeing with the ASA to take down Jefferson.
This episode of Black Lightning was an exciting one. I absolutely loved that opening fight with Thunder and Black Lightning in the warehouse. The use of 5e music, and the cinematography to complement it made for one spectacular fight scene to look at. I liked how the scene used the powers of Anissa and Jefferson together in a creative way. In the episode, we got a few scenes with Lala. It was fine, however, they did slow down the episode a bit. The Lala plot isn’t too interesting, especially with the other stories going on. Gambi’s story in the episode was interesting. I enjoyed seeing the way that Gambi was resetting giving up Jefferson. By the end of the episode, we saw how the two turned around and forgave each other.
The cast of the episode was great. Starring in the episode we had Cress Williams (Jefferson Pierce/ Black Lightning), Nafessa Williams (Anissa Pierce/ Thunder), China Ann McClain (Jenifer Pierce), Christine Adamas (Lynn Pierce), James Remar (Peter Gambi), Jason Louder (2-Bits), William Catlett (Lala), and Dabier (Will).
In conclusion, this episode of Black Lightning was brilliant, in the use of music and other visual techniques, this was one awesome episode, however, it was brought down a little bit with some pacing. I will give this episode an 8 out of 10. I would like to hear your thoughts on this episode down in the comments below. You can click on the left for more DCTV, and on the right for Infinity War.
