JESSICA JONES SEASON 2 TRAILER BREAKDOWN
The trailer opens up with Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), at a bar having flashbacks to the accident she was in as a kid. It was a car crash that got her parents killed, and from there, she was abducted and experimented on, giving her powers, and she eventually breaks free, thus where she is now. It seems like Jessica is still struggling with what happened, as she is now focusing on what makes her, her, and how she could potentially fix it.
A shoutout to the films, this kid asks Jessica if she knows Captain America. It is most likely Jessica displayed her super strength in front of the kid and that leads to the question. But in the MCU, I don't think Jessica will meet Cap anytime soon. With Infinity War coming up, the tv characters from Agents of SHIELD or the Netflix shows will not appear. That is obviously because of contract issues, and the film can not cram too many characters into the film. However, it seems like we will get easter eggs and references to the tv characters. If you want to think inside the MCU, each character has their own reason for not appearing. The Agents of SHIELD as in space, the Runaways are only kids, Daredevil is assumed dead, and even if the Avengers came knocking on Jessica's door, it seems like she wouldn't give a sh*t.
There is this new character, Pryce Chen (Terry Chen), who appears to be working for a different Private Investigating firm, and he wants to eliminate the competition of Alias, by purchasing it. This might be a one-off story for Jessica, however, it appears as though this story might lead into Pryce being tied with the main villain of the season. But I do not think that Jessica will give up Allias, she and Malcolm (Eka Darville), will continues taking cases throughout the season, but the main case will be tied with Jessica's past.
When looking through her past, it appears Jessica finds this person. She appears to be someone who was involved in the experiments done on Jessica after the car crash. We learn that Jessica "died" and was brought back to life, and the super strength is a side affect. If this is true, which it is possible Jessica did full out die than I do not think it is likely that the Kree blood was used on Jessica, like what was done to Coulson in Agents of SHIELD. I am curious as to how Jessica got her powers. It will possibly be left a little ambiguous in the show, to leave some mystery to the character and to also show that Jessica does not want to know everything that happened as she is scared to know.
We see that there is this killer in Hells Kitchen which Jessica is going to take down. If I had to guess, this killer is most likely someone who was experimented on like Jessica and is now in Hell's Kitchen. If that is the case, it makes you question why is this killer only out now, as Jessica got her powers a while ago, and when Jessica goes to the facilities, they look very run down. So this killer may have been in hiding for some reason, but some event from the season will trigger them.
Tracy Walker (Rachael Taylor), seems like she will be getting into action this season as Jessica's sidekick. She may have been practicing her fighting from Colleen Wing. In the comics, Trish is known as the superhero, Hel Cat. Remember in season 1 when Trish made a costume for Jessica which was ignored, I would not be surprised if Trish makes a comic book costume for herself as Hel Cat. As ridiculous as it is, it would be cool to see for an episode. Maybe just for an episode so it feels in the tone of the show.
The trailer ends with Jessica in the purple light as she turns around and sees someone clapping. The person clapping is the Purple Man (David Tennant), who is back. Not really. It appears that Jessica is still having visions of Purple Man in her head, after all the horrible experiences he put her through. Some form of PTSD. But Purple Man will remain in Jessica's head as a fragment of her imagination. He won't come back in reality as Jessica snapped his neck at the end of season one. But the purple lightning looks cool and you can see it as a little on the nose.
In conclusion, this trailer of Jessica Jones was awesome as it showed off the basic story of the season, and it teased how different plots may tie into each other. Jessica Jones season 2 drops on Netflix March 8th, and I will hopefully do a review. I have been slack on some of the other previous Marvel Netflix series, but I will try to do a review for this.
