INFINITY WAR PRELUDE COMIC BREAKDOWN

For most Marvel Studios films, there are new Marvel comics set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which are a prelude to the film. These comics usually tease something that happens in the film, and it provides more context for where characters are at in their story arc from one film to the next. There is now a prelude comic for Avengers Infinity War where we see what most of out Earth-based superheroes are up, following the events of Captain America Civil War. Writer, Will Corona Pilgrim, and artist Tigh Walker do a great job of conveying where these characters are. So, let's go ahead and see where each character ended up in the comic.

CAPTAIN AMERICA, BLACK WIDOW, & FALCON

Let's start off with Captain America and his gang. Steve Rogers busted his team from Civil War out of the raft prison they were held in. Steve teamed up with Sam Wilson (Flacon), and Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), to take down a terrorist who posses Chitarui technology from the first Avengers.
This is something we have seen the Avengers doing since Age of Ultron, most of the Hydra bases they took down held Chitarui technology, so Captain Americ and Black Widow are continuing on with that, being superheroes in secret. This also leads up to the Infinity War footage where we have seen Captain America (or Nomad), Black Widow and Falcon banded together.

HAWKEYE, & ANT-MAN

The other members of team Captain America were busted out of the raft prison by Captain America. Clin Barton, Hawkeye decided to also resume what he was doing after Age of Ultron, going into retirement. Scott Lang, Ant-Man is also going back home to his daughter.
It seems like when Infinity War comes around it will be a running gag that Hawkeye can never catch a break, he always gets his annual call out to action. With Scott Lang, when Infinity War comes around, we do not have official confirmation that he is in the film. If he is he will most likely stay on Earth. In Ant-Man and the Wasp, it seems like Hank Pym will be mad at him for getting involved with the Avengers.

SCARLET WITCH, & VISION

After being busted out of the raft prison by Steve, Wanda went to Europe where she started to travel around with a shapeshifted human form of Vision, who is keeping Wanda's location a secret from the government. In Europe, the two are trying to lead a normal life, exploring the world and each other.
This was teased in the Infinity War trailer where we see Wanda and Vision in a hotel together, and the Vision is in his human form, however, the Mind stone still glows.

BLACK PANTHER, & WINTER SOLDIER
We learn that Shuri, Black Panther's younger sister, is working on erasing Bucky's trigger words that turn him into the Winter Soldier. Shuri is attempting to piece together Bucky's memory, unaltering his personality, however taking out the Hydra programming in him. In the comic, T'Challa seemed very apologetic towards Bucky for blaming him for his father's death. In the comic Shuri was revealed to be only 16, and claims to be smarter than Tony Stark. The comic did not show too much about what Black Panther was doing, as we will learn more of that in the solo film.

IRON MAN
Tony Stark was at an odd stage in Civil War, learning that his friends lied to him about the death of his parents. However, from seeing the Chitarui forces from outer space, and the dead Avengers vision he got from Scarlet Witch, Tony Stark is adamant that there is an ultimate threat coming to Earth, so he has been preparing to fight this threat by himself, and not wanting to call in Captain America. We see that Tony was working on the Iron Spider suit as well as his Iron-Man Mark 48 suit.
The threat that is coming obviously Thanos who is coming, Tony does not know anything about Thanos, however, he just knows that there is a threat coming, so he is making all the gear for everyone. This was teased in Spiderman Homecoming, as Tony was making a new Captain America shield and a new belt for Thor.
Illustrated by Tigh Walker- Marvel Comics

Overall, this comic focused more on the Earth-based heroes. We did not see anything about Spiderman, as we had his solo film which followed up with him. There is a second part to this comic prelude which focuses on the more mystical and cosmic characters, such as Doctor Strange, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor. That comic is set to come out next month.
This Infinity War prelude comic is really neat. When we last saw most of these characters they were in an ambiguous state, so it was nice getting some light shed on the characters. I have to say, but the Black Panther and Winter Soldier follow up got me the most excited. I would like to know who's story do you like the most from this Infinity War prelude comic? let me know by dropping a comment below. You can click on the left for some Captain Marvel costume reveal images, and click on the right for when we can potentially see the next Infinity War trailer. As always thanks for reading, take care.
