THE FLASH "CRISIS ON EARTH-X PART 3" REVIEW
Season 4 Episode 8:
Hey, everyone, we are back with a brand new episode of the Flash which is the third part of the crossover. So spoilers ahead for the episode and the whole crossover for that matter, let's recap.
The episode opens straight up from last night where Barry, Oliver, Sara, Martin, Jax, and Alex are in a concentration camp on Earth-X. At the camp, they meet Ray Terrill. At the camp, the heroes and Ray are rounded up by general Sturmbannführer (Earth-X doppelganger of Quentin Lance). The heroes are about to be shot, however, Leonard Snart shows up and blasts the Nazi's with his ice gun. Everyone is surprised by Leonard, but they learn on Earth-X Leonard is an ally of Ray. Ray then uses his light powers to take down the Nazi's. The heroes then escape.
Back on Earth-1, Kara is captured and put under a red sunlight where Eobard is going to cut open Kara for the hear transplant with Overgirl. Meanwhile, Iris and Felicity go to the pipeline to free Cisco, Harry, Caitlin, Mick, and team Arrow, however when the cells get stuck, so Felicity sends a distress call to the Waverider.
On Earth-X, the heroes go to Ray's headquarters where they meet the Earth-X freedom fighters, which is led by Earth-X Winn Schott. Ray tells Barry and the others that he is from Earth-1 himself and that he came to the Earth-X through a portal. Sara asks if they can get their, which Ray tells them that the portal is in a heavily guarded facility. Winn tells the heroes that they are going to blow up the facility to trap Overgirl and the other villains on the other side. Alex tries to persuade Winn otherwise so the heroes can go home, and she can save Kara.
In the Freedom fight base, Martin apologizes to Jax and tells him that he is like a son to him, while Alex tells Sara that when she goes home she needs to apologize to Maggie. Ray and Leonard manage to sway Winn to give the heroes a chance to go through the portal before they destroy the facility. We also learn that Ray and Leonard are lovers. The heroes create a plan to get into the facility, where they decide that Oliver should go disguise himself as his Earth-X counterpart.
On Earth-1, Iris and Felicity then go to Thawne's brail room where Felicity tries to take down the power which she is successful in doing. Iris and Felicity quickly save a weakened Kara, however, they are stopped by Metallo who takes down the trio. Thawne has Iris and Felicity captured as he threatens Felicity for the power code or her life. Kara then comes in and tells Thawne to not kill Felicity, but her instead. Felicity then gives Thawne the code for the power, which comes back on.
Back on Earth-X, Oliver is disguised as his Earth-1 counterpart and snakes into the facility where he meets Sturmbannführer. Oliver is ordered to release the Nazi doomsday weapon to Earth-X, and that Doomsday weapon is a Nazi Waverider. Sturmbannführer brings in Earth-X Felicity, who is a prisoner. Sturmbannführer tells Oliver to kill Felicity but he does not and instead fights the 20 nazi's that are in the room. Barry comes in and sees that the switch to the portal is destroyed, so they now have to go to another switch. Ray and Leonard come in and tells Barry and Oliver that the Freedom Fighters weapon is coming in, and it is Earth-X Red Tornado.
Ray and Barry chase after Red Tornado in a train fight. Meanwhile, Oliver and Leonard suit up and meet with Sara, Alex, Martin, and Jax to flip the switch to Earth-1. The heroes fight the Nazi's in their strengths. Firestorm splits up so Jax can rework some wires. Meanwhile, Barry and Ray fail to stop Red Tornado who is heading to the facility. Jax and Martin are separated and cornered. But Martin manages to pull through and runs after the switch, however, Jax witnesses Martin get shot and collapse to the ground.
Wow, so overall that episode was a really strong one. It introduced us to new characters such as the Ray and Citizen Stell as well as General Schott. It was great seeing the heroes interact with their Earth-X friends and realize all that was going on. There were some parts in the episode that were not too strong, such as the CG, it did not look too good on the Ray, which is a shame considering how cool his costume is. In the episode Jax and Martin had a really strong relationship build up and I am excited where it is all heading, especially with a cliffhanger like that. The Earth-X storyline was really great in the episode and seeing how the Earth-1 and Earth-38 heroes reacted to their environment and situation.
The Earth-1 storyline was interesting, I liked seeing how Felicity and Iris tried to save the day, and seeing them in their partners shows for the episode.
The cast of the episode once again was great, especially with the introduction of Russell Tovey as the Ray and Wentworth Miller as Citizen Cold. The rest of the cast was amazing as well, we had Stephen Amell (Green Arrow/ Grüner Pfeil), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl/ Overgirl), Grant Gustin (Barry /the Flash), Candice Patton (Iris West), Jeremy Jordan (Winn Schott), Tom Cavanagh (Harry/ Reverse Flash), Chyler Leigh (Alex Danvers), Caity Lotz (Sara/ White Canary), Victor Garber (Martin Stein), Franz Drameh (Jax/ Firestorm), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin/ Killer Frost), Paul Blackthorne (Sturmbannführer), and Juliana Harkavy (Dinah/ Black Canary).
In conclusion, this episode of the Flash was an interesting part of the crossover, introducing new characters and creating an intense plot, and I am excited to see the finale of Crisis on Earth-X on Legends of Tomorrow. I will give this episode a 9 out of 10. I would like to hear your thoughts on the episode down in the comments below. As always thanks for reading, take care.
