LEGENDS OF TOMORROW 'ARUBA CON' REVIEW

Season 3 Episode 1:

Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 premiered last night with an awesome episode. So spoilers ahead for the episode, let's recap.

Picking up straight after Season two, the Legends are in Los Angeles 2017, where time is broke. Futuristic buildings surround them and dinosaurs roam the streets. But then Rip Hunter shows up and creates portals which dinosaurs are running through to get back to their time. Rip tells the Legends that he created a new organization, the Time Bureau, who take care of anachronisms (things that are out of their time zone). Rip dismisses the Legends of their duty, leaving them unemployed.

Months later, we see that the Legends have parted ways. Amaya went back to 1942 to her village, Zambesi; Ray is working in Silicon Valley; Sara is working in retail; Nate is being a superhero in Central City (getting the help of Kid Flash); Martin is ready to become a grandfather; Jax dropped out of school; and Mick is chilling in Aruba. In Aruba, Mick finds Julius Caesar, realizing he is an anachronism, Mick ties him up in his beach house and immediately calls Sara. Gathering Nate and Ray, Sara realizes that if they return Julius Caesar back to his time, they may be able to get their ship back and be superheroes again.

Sara, Nate, and Ray manage to get to the base of the Time Bureau. There they learn that the Waverider is now being used for simulation courses. Rip greets the Legends, who tells him about Mick finding Julius Caesar. Rip says that the Time Bureau did not pick up any anachronism, but they check anyway. Teleporting to Aruba the Time Bureau finds Mick but they mistake the real Kulias Caesar for someone at a toga party. Seeing Mick was wrong, the Time Bureau dismisses the Legends. Mick shows off some of the coins he stole from Julius, and Nate realizes that Mick was right. The Legends decide that if they can return Julius back to his time, they can get the Waverider back for good and become the superhero time for good.

Sara, Nate, Mick, and Ray steal the Waverider and break out of the facility. Not being in great shape, the Waverider cannot travel to Aruba, so they travel to Central City. In the home of the Flash, the Legends gather Jax and Martin to help fix the Waverider.

With the Waverider fully repaired, the Legends travel to Aruba where they find the real Julius Caesar. Sara challenges to a fight and in three swift kicks wins. The Legends put Julius Caesar in the cell on board. The Legends are heading to ancient Rome, but then Rip calls. He tells the Legends to hand Julius Caesar and the Waverider back to the Bureau, which Captain Sara agrees to do. Jax does repairs to the ship while Sara talks with Julius Caesar. Jax tells Sara that everything is all fixed to get them to the Time Bureau, but Sara wants to take Julius Caesar back to 49 B.C, Ancient Rome.

Sara and Nate take Julius Caesar out of the ship, Sara erases Caesar's mind while Nate looks at a book which has the history of Rome, and it all reverts back to normal. The two go back to their ship and Caesar goes back to plotting on taking over the world. The Legends are ready to go home, but Gideon tells them that they have no home to go to, it is all owned by Rome. Nate realizes that Julius Caesar stole his book and learned everything that would happen.

Rip Hunter and the Time Bureau teleport into the Waverider and tell the Legends that they screwed up. Some agents teleport outside and are about to steal the book., but it is a trap. Rip tells the Legends to save the agents. Everyone suits up and starts to take down the Roman soldiers. Mick fights Caesar and Sara frees the agents and gets the book back. The Time Bureau wipes the roman's memories of their walk in with the Legends. Rip says even though the Legends are reckless, they still can save the day, so he lets them have the Waverider and for them to continue going on adventures. Rip has a talk to one of the agents and he tells her that the Legends have the best chance of defeating "Mallus".

The episode ends with Ray checking on Nate who is looking at pictures of Amaya We cut to 1942, Zambesia, soldiers arrive at the village and Amaya, Vixen herself scares them away using her powers.

The episode was a really awesome episode to start off the season. The scene near the end is talking about the big villain of the season I am assuming, Maulls. I searched him up in the DC Comics database, but nothing came up. It could be a code name for a different character who will be the villain this season. I am excited to see where this will go. I will not be surprised if the villain is tied to the new character coming to the show, Zari.
The scene at the end of the episode was to check in on Amaya, but I don't know if it has something to do with the Vixen related villain coming to the show this season. But it is interesting to see how she could use so many animal spirits. It will be interesting to see what happens with the character this season on the show.

The cast of the episode was great. It was awesome seeing everyone back together, we had Caity Lotz (Sara/ White Canary), Brandon Routh (ray/the Atom), Franz Durham (Jax/ Firestorm), Victor Garber (Martin/ Firestorm), Nick Zano (Nate/ Citizen Steel),  Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Amaya/Vixen), Simon Merrells (Julius Caesar), and Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter). It was also really cool seeing Keiynan Lonsdale as Kid Flash in the episode.

Overall, this episode of Legends of Tomorrow was a strong opening to the season. The show has improved so much from the first episode, I am excited to see how it will go. I will give this episode of Legends of Tomorrow an 8.5 out of 10. I would like to hear your thoughts on the episode down in the comments below. As always thanks for reading, take care.
