ARROW "NEXT OF KIN" REVIEW

Season 6 Episode 3:

Everyone we are back with a brand new episode of Arrow which brings is John as the vigilante this week. So spoilers ahead for the episode, let's recap.

The episode opens up with John Diggle as the Green Arrow fighting with the team to take down Faust. With Black Canary using her cry to fly John across from building to building, he takes on Faust and his goons by his side. The team succeeds in their mission and head back to the Arrow cave where Dinah confronts Diggle about him not telling Oliver about his injury. Meanwhile, Oliver is being the best father he can be for William; as well as being the mayor. In the mayor's office, Oliver is confronted with Samanda, who suspects Oliver hired a replacement Green Arrow as the vigilante has not fired a single arrow since Oliver was investigated.

Meanwhile, at Kord industries, a woman manages to kill a bunch of workers in a room and steal some information. Dinah goes to the scene of the crime the next day and goes into the Kord database where Curtis and Felicity find that the criminal stole some information regarding a truck transfer of some gas. Meanwhile, Oliver asks Felicity if she can tutor William for a test, which she agrees to do.

Later that night, team Arrow roll out to stop the Kord truck with the gas. They tell them they are in danger and get in the truck, guarding it. The truck is stopped by the lady who was at Kord; she shoots the driver and John. Curtis, Dinah, and Rene get out of the truck to fight the criminal and her associates. But she uses light grenade which blinds the team. The criminals steal the truck and put the gas in a sperate van, and drive off. Rene gets up and asks Diggle what to do, which he freezes. Rene makes his own decision and chases after the truck which has the main criminal, however, she escapes right before the truck explodes in a building.

Back at the Arrow cave, the team is pissed off at John as he couldn't make a call. Felicity managed to find the identity of the criminal who stole the gas, Onyx Adams, an ex-black ops member who went rogue. Meanwhile, Quentin tells Oliver that people are getting suspicious that he relies on vigilantes instead of the police force, and that the Star City council is going to try to pass an anti-vigilante act. Oliver goes back home where he meets Rene, who tells Oliver that he needs to come back, as John cannot handle the position of the Green Arrow.

Oliver goes down to the Arrow cave where he asks Felicity is she can tutor William tonight, which she agrees to do. Oliver talks to John and he tells him that he is sorry that he didn't think about him. Oliver stepped out from being the Green Arrow because he wanted to be there for William, and he asked John to put on the hood without thinking of his wife and child. John tells Oliver that he can handle being the Green Arrow.

At night, Felicity is tutoring William, that is until she is called in by team Arrow to be Overwatch. in the Arrow cave, the team learns that Onyx is planning to release the deadly gas she stole into a populated hotel, which is to try to kill one of her old teammates. Team Arrow rolls out to the hotel, jumping off the stairs. Black Canary, Mr. Terific, and Wilddog take down the goons of Onyx, while John chases after her. The gas starts to get released which Black Canary and Mr. Terific try to evacuate everyone but the doors are locked. John chases Onyx into a car which the target is in. After a close fight, John wins knocking out Onyx. Meanwhile, Black Canary and Curtis use their skills and powers to blow a hole in the hotel to release the gas.

In the Arrow cave, the team is celebrating their victory. Felicity and Curtis give a crossbow-type device to John so it would look like the Green Arrow never left. John firs up the tennis ball machine, and shoots the balls straight through and on to the wall, Oliver style. Dinah has a talk with John and she apologizes as she doubted he could handle being the Green Arrow after his injury.

At a council meeting, the anti-vigilante act is about to be passed. Oliver, Quentin, and Rene step into the meeting. Oliver tells the council that vigilantes save people, and they need to work alongside the police of the city to save the people. So Oliver purposes to the council that there needs to be a referendum on the anti-vigilante act.

Meanwhile, we see Samanda, who has a whole conspiracy board on the Green Arrow, and she places an image of John on the board. Later on, Oliver thanks Felicity for tutoring William, so he gives her a kay to his apartment, and he tells her that she has made his life better, so maybe she can make William's life better. The two then kiss showing they still have a relationship. The episode ends with
John meeting in an alleyway getting some steroids from a mysterious figure,

The episode was a really awesome one, which introduced Diggle as the Green Arrow, which was great to see. It seems as though we will see him improve as the hooded vigilante instead of giving it up. The scene at the end with Diggle taking the steroids was to show that he has not truly gotten over his injury, but he is using the drug to enhance his strength to be the Green Arrow. I would not be surprised that later in the season the team takes down the drug supplier, leaving John without straight and incapable of being the Green Arrow, thus leading Oliver to step back into the hood.

David Ramsey was awesome to see as the Green Arrow in the episode. How the character handled the role. I would like to see more of John as the Green Arrow, especially with that new crossbow. The rest of the cast of the cast was great in the episode we had Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen/Green Arrow), Emilly Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak), Juliana Harkavy (Dinah/ Black Canary), Echo Kellum (Curtis/ Mr. Terrific),  Rick Gonzalez (Rene/ Wilddog), Jack Moore (Willaim Queen), Paul Blackthorne (Quentin Lance), Sydelle Noel (Samanda Watson), and Chastity Dotson (Onyx Adams).

Overall this episode was an interesting one which brought us John Diggle as the Green Arrow which was awesome to see. The plot of the episode was great, and the overall acting was good for the show. I will give 'Next Of Kin" an 8.5 out of 10. Please comment below on your thoughts on this episode of Arrow. As always thanks for reading, take care.
