CARS + CARS 2 REVIEW
With Cars 3 coming out this week let's take a look at the other two films in the franchise. So I guess
let's start with the first film.
Cars, focuses around racing car Lightning McQueen getting lost o his way to a race, where he learns the way of life in a small town of Radiator Springs and meets the townspeople who teach him lessons which help him win his race and show him the meaning of life.
So this film was a unique film, it followed a similar path to other Pixar films but did manage to capture the relative heart and spirit of most Pixar films. The story was easy to follow for kids and is mainly marketed towards kids with all the toys, which is basically as much of the franchise than the movies.
The cast in the film was great. I enjoyed Paul Newman, it is ashamed that he passed away, but he was one of the best parts of the film. I suppose that most of the characters in the film did stand out with their personalities, it kind of felt like a Simpsons thing. For example, Luigi (Tony Shalhoub) and Guido (Guido Quaroni) were iconic from the film
Owen Wilson was interesting as Lightning McQueen, I enjoyed the way he voiced the character. Larry the Cable Guy was great as Mater, the voice he brings is something neat, and fitted the tone and setting of the film, well the first one at least. Bonnie Hunt was neat as Sally, I enjoyed the character and the voice behind her.
John Ranft and John Lasseter did a great job in making a classic. I will give Cars a 7 out of 10.
Well that is it for Cars I guess, but know let's review Cars 2, the part you probably wanted to see be reviewed, maybe not so much see.
Cars 2 focuses not on Lightning McQueen, but on Mater being a recruited as a spy and traveling across the world finding himself in a spy plot of illegal engines being used in races that Lighting is participating in. So Mater without knowing it has to make alliances to stop the plot across the world.
The part that gets the most hate for the film is the Mater plot, and yes it I ridiculous, I don't want to go on about it, but it just is completely ridiculous and throws away so much logic.
But I suppose that there are some parts in the film that are okay, like the world tour. That was interesting, for the limited time that it was touched upon. Jeez, this is going to be tough, Well ahh, here's the Honest Trailer for Cars 1 and 2.
John Lasseter and Brad Lewis put a good amount of effort into the film, and I will give Cars 2 a 5 out of 10.
Anway, the cars franchise has been through a lot, and hopefully, Cars 3 can redeem that, and it seems like it might. I would like to hear your thoughts on the Cars franchise down below. As always thanks for reading, take care.
