VENOM TRAILER 2 BREAKDOWN

"We are Venom!" A brand new trailer for the first film in the Sony spider-verse, "Venom" directed by Ruben Fleischer has come out. And this time, we see Venom in his full-fledged appearance looking as menacing as ever, and wanting to eat anyone he can. There is a lot going on in this trailer, regarding the storyline being used in the film, the villains which are coming from that, and all the organs and body parts that Venom can eat, so let's break this all down.

Here we meet Eddie Brook (Tom Hardy), a reporter who goes anywhere for a story, such as the life Foundation, where a series of sketchy occurrences are happening. The Life Foundation is where all the symbiote bindings happen including Eddie turning into Venom. In this shot here we see Eddie having the symbiote surging through him as we can see his eyes glow black.

One of the symbiotes, named, Phage, as seen by its yellow color. In the film, there will most likely be the six symbiotes, most of which we see in the trailer. There is Venom, Phage, Toxin, Scream, Riot, and most likely Carnage as well. The origin of the symbiotes in the film has not been explained yet, and I don't think we will know its full origin in the film, as it might change depending on if this film does fit in the MCU.

Dr. Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed) is doing his symbiote experiments, which he believes is a step in human evolution. In this scene, here we see an experiment with Patrick Mulligan (Reid Scott), who's symbiote is called "Toxin". It appears that Mulligan was someone who was in a state of weakness, where the Life Foundation took advantage and did this experiment.
In the film, Drake may end up being Carnage. That is a diversion from Cetus Kassady being the host of the symbiote, but Dr. Drake in this film seems crazy enough to fit the role of Kassady and would be fit for the host of Carnage in the film.

This is arguably the coolest shot in the trailer, we see Venom, growing out of Eddie's arm and talking to him. This is a physical representation of what is going on inside Eddie's mind. Before we have heard the voice in his head, but this is way more interesting and visually appealing to see on screen. I am curious to see how many times this is used because I love this shot.

Here is the full scale of Venom in comparison with other people, and he is huge. If I had to guess, Venom stands at about seven and a half feet, because in this shot, he is slouching down a bit. Looking at the shot we can see that there is no spider logo on Venom. That is because of the ambiguity of how Venom fits in with Spiderman and the rest of the MCU.
But Venom does look awesome in his full scale. The slouching of the character makes him look menacing, where he has to bend down to lick your face, which does happen in this scene.

I am not too sure who is trying to apprehend Eddie here. It could either be:
a) the Government
b) the Life Foundation
Both would make sense in why they would want Eddie. The government may want to take in Eddie after Venom went on a rampage. The Life Foundation would want Eddie for numerous reasons, including him getting away with the power of the symbiotes, and him being a threat to the other five symbiotes.

Toxin has broken out of his containment cell in the Life Foundation and is going rampant. This is awesome seeing the blades coming out of the arms of Toxin. It shows the fluidity in the power assets of the symbiotes. This may be where part of the conflict comes into play, where Venom and Eddie have to team up to stop Toxin and potentially the other symbiotes who may have broken out in this scene.

Another symbiote host is Donna Diego (Michelle Lee) who turns into the symbiote of Scream. In the film, she will be another experiment of the Life Foundation where she gains the powers of Scream. In this shot here we see that Diego can also create blades with the symbiote. I am not too sure how the character will have the balance of host and symbiote, because the host looks like she is in control in this scene while using her powers.

One of the biggest scenes of the trailer is this last third act shot which shows Venom versus Toxin. This looks freaking amazing, with the symbiotes spilling over each other in the air, and the hosts exposed. The important thing here is that inside Toxin we can see Dr. Drake, instead of Mulligan. This makes me believe that this could be a trailer edit, and here it could possibly be Carnage that Venom is fighting.
That is an outlandish theory, but we have to wait for the film to release to see what happens with Carnage in this film.

The last scene in this trailer is adding in the quote and idea of "We are Venom!" as we see Venom open up its face to reveal Eddie as well. It seems like someone is trying to rob this convenience store, and Eddie scares this guy away. I do love the monologuing that Venom does where he goes over how he would eat this dude, and roll his body like a "turd in the wind".
I don't think that Venom ate this dude, but he definitely scared him, and Venom looks and sounds awesome in this scene.

Overall, this trailer is exciting, showing off the full scale of Venom, his powers, and the villains he might face in the film. I am excited about this film seeing as that now we get to see Venom, and he looks brilliant. The way that the trailer showed off the aesthetic and tone of the film was great, and it gets me excited to see what this film will offer.
