BOBA FETT: A STAR WARS STORY ANNOUNCED

With Solo: A Star Wars Story upon us, it has been announced that Han's greatest enemy (behind his son), Boba Fett, is going to get a spin-off film, directed by James Mangold. The news broke today from the Hollywood Reporter who said that Mangold is going to write and direct the film, which is not the last of the spin-off films, which we will see. So, this is awesome news, which raises plenty of questions, so let's get into this.

To start off, I am pretty confident that this film will take place after Return of the Jedi, or while that film is going on. Most people have speculated that Boba Fett got out of the Sarlacc Pitt from the Jabba palace attack. So it seems like this would be confirmed with most likely the film starting off with Fett flying out of the pit. There are many ways where this film could go. I could focus on Boba Fett going on a side mission, all the while the Empire is being shattered, or it could show Boba Fett potentially trying to stop the Rebels or even the Empire on a separate occasion, taking on some foes who were absent in Return of the Jedi.

With having directed films such as Logan (2017), Mangold seems like he will do an excellent job, as Logan was the perfect way to end of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the X-Men franchise. This is not the first time that a Boba Fett film was going to be announced. In 2015, it was rumored that Josh Trank was going to direct a Boba Fett film, however, the announcement was delayed and canceled after Trank's Fant4stic (2015) failed critically and financially. But it appears now that the film is back in being produced.

Another major question about this film is that who is going to play the Mandalorian bounty hunter. In  Attack of the Clones (2002), we saw the child version of Boba Fett, who was played by Daniel Logan. It is possible that he comes back, however, it seems unlikely. In the solo film, at some point we would see Boba Fett take off his helmet, to reveal his face, so it seems like Lucasfilm will bring in a bigger acting. But hopefully, for the sake of continuity, they will have a Maori actor portray Boba Fett.

In conclusion, the Boba Fett film gets me excited about what we could see from the Star Wars universe. I would like to see a more interesting arc for the character where maybe he transitions from working primarily with the Empire, to working with the Rebellion. The film can have a story which goes anyway, and it is all speculation at this point.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this announcement down in the comments below. You can click on the left for Solo, and on the right for other Star Wars. As always thanks for reading, take care.
