AVENGERS INFINITY WAR "CAPTAIN AMERICA" DISCUSSION

Chris Evans reprised his role for the eight consecutive years in a row, as Captain America, this year in Avengers Infinity War. With the character being in hiding since the events of 2016's Civil War, the character has changed a fair amount to what we last saw him as. Spoilers for Avengers Infinity War ahead as we will be discussing Steve Rogers in Infinity War, and his role in Avengers 4. Let's go.

With a call from Bruce, Steve, Natasha, Sam, Wanda, and Vision get out of hiding in Scotland where they meet with Rhode and Bruce to go to Wakanda to protect Vision who has the mind stone in his forehead, which they plan to destroy. In Infinity War, Steve did not get that much of a role as many like myself were expecting.  He primarily was there to instruct the team to go to Wakanda as he knew that Bucky was there. There were a few awesome scenes with the character in the film. I loved that scene where he and Black Panther sprinted faster than everyone else towards the Outrider aliens in Wakanda. Steve holding off Thanos in the jungle was also an impressive scene to see, seeing the pure strength of the character.

We did see how much the character changed from Civil War to know. The first major change is Steve's appearance. The appearance of Rogers resembles that of Nomad, the era when Steve got a separate alias to operate under. In the film, we saw Rogers sporting the new beard, which looked awesome. As cool as it is, I think we will see it go in Avengers four.  The Costume is also very different. The Avengers logo and Star in the middle is ripped out from the suit, darkening the suit. Which ages the suit. Remeber, Steve has basically been wearing the suit since Civil War. Also, the sleeves are rolled up a bit, which looks awesome in my opinion. It subtle emphasis how much of a bad ass Steve is. Courtesy of T'Challa, and designed by Shuri, Steve got some new shields, which were Vibranium like his original one. The Shields weren't highlighted a whole lot in the film, but they still looked awesome when Cap swung them around.

Moving into Avengers four territory. Steve along with the other phase one heroes was not turned to dust after Thanos turned to dust. In Avengers 4, Steve will be commanding the Avengers who are still alive, which is the original phase one heroes, Ant-Man, Wasp, Rocket, Nebula, and Captain Marvel. Steve will get to meet all the heroes who he hasn't interacted with at all. The big reunion that we are all looking forward to in Avengers 4 is Iron Man and Captain America. Their falling out in Civil War put the two in different places, but with the imminent threat of Thanos, the two will have to put their differences aside to work together.

Steve will definitely get a new look in Avengers four. I am predicting he will lose the bear, get a new cleaned up costume, and he will get his shield back. With a smaller team, I do hope that when they fight Thanos initially, Cap raises his shield and says "Avengers Assemble". That is something that has been teased, but not done on screen.

Chris Evans has said that he is done with Marvel after Avenger four, so it seems like the character will most likely die in Avengers four. He, Nebula, and Iron Man are at the top of my death prediction list for Avengers four. I would see Captain America dieing at the hands of Thanos after he saves some of his fellow friends. It would be a fitting death for the character, seeing as his stories are wrapping up. All he has to do with making amends with Tony, and then it seems like he will die in Avengers four.

In conclusion, Chris Evans was awesome as Captain America in Avengers Infinity War. The way that the character was portrayed in his look, being darker than what he was since Civil War, was great to see, as it progresses the character since the last time we saw him. Avengers four seems like it will have Captain America be a pivotal part of taking down Thanos and setting up the next generation of Avengers.
