RIVERDALE "THE TELL-TALE HEART" REVIEW

Chapter 26:

Hey, everyone, we are back with a brand new episode of Riverdale where we will talk about the twist of the episode, where the season is possibly heading, the problem with some of the protagonists, and the episode itself. Spoilers ahead for the episode, let's recap.

The episode opens with Betty and Alice cleaning up the dead body from last weeks episode, off their floor. The two remove all evidence that the man even came to the house by cleaning everything that could have his fingerprints on it. The mother and daughter but the body in a bag, take the bag into an abandoned sewer and leave it there, hiding it. Hal comes home to pick up some stuff and thinks that there is something suspicious, however, ignores it. The next day at school, Kevin tells everyone that there was a dead body found in a hotel. Betty rushes to the bathroom and throws up. Cheryl goes to check up on her. Betty goes home where she confronts Hal of his affair with Penelope, as Ceryl told her. Hal gives up his suspicions and leaves. Later on, Betty goes to the sewer where the body was hidden and looks at whose life was taken. A phone rings, Betty takes the phone from the body, however, does not answer one of the 47 missed calls. At home, Betty looks through the phone. She goes downstairs and confronts Chic of doing drugs with this guy. Alice tells Betty off, but Betty says that the GPS of the phone is turned off and that they just took a man away from his family, drug dealer or not. Betty then tries to contact one the man's contact, however, no body answers part from his wife who assumes that her husband is cheating on her.

Meanwhile, Jughead complains to mayor McCoy about Hiram kicking people out of the trailer park. Jughead arranges a meeting with Hiram and Veronica at the trailer park to discuss the problem. Hiram agrees to not take the trailer park in order for peace with both sides of Riverdale, which FP and Jughead agree on. Hiram also asks Jughead to not write any discriminating thing on Hiram, which Jughead sort of agrees on. Jughead gets a call from Betty and he goes to her place. Betty tells Jughead about the body, and he freaks out. A parking warden comes past Jughead and Betty and asks the two about a car. Knowing that the car the warden was referring to was the car of the dead man. Jughead and Betty push the car into a swamp where it sinks. Jughead tells FP about what Alice and Betty did, and not wanting them to get into the same trouble he did, he buries the body of the man in the ground with some stones that will erode the body. At the Pops, Alice, FP, Jughead, and Betty sit in silence knowing of the crimes they committed.

Meanwhile, Archie meets Agent Adam who asks Archie to ask Hiram about the murder of Poppa Poutine, which Archie does and Hiram tells him that he did not. Archie comes home from school and sees that Adams is interrogating his father, Fred, and his workers. Not wanting to give out his cover, Archie acts like he does not know Adams. Later on, Archie and Adams meet, and Archie tells complains about his father being interrogated. Adams gives Archie a chip, which he is to plant in Hiram's office, to get information from Hiram. Archie agrees to do so and goes to Hiram. Archie tells Hiram about Agent Adams and how he wanted him to plant a chip. Hiram tells Archie that he did a good thing about telling him about the FBI. Later on, Archie gets a ride from Hiram's driver, Andre, who drives Archie to a cliff. Archie gets out of the car and is greeted by a hooded figure, revealed to be Hermione. Hermione tells Archie that Agent Adams was a test and that Archie passed, and he is now a member of the Lodges.

Overall this episode of Riverdale was an interesting one. There was such an insane build up at the beginning of the episode with Betty seeing the dead body on the floor. It was great seeing the way that Betty reacted and how Alice was in action clearing evidence. The ticking timer of Hal coming home was such a bonus to the scene. My only complaint was that this only lasted a couple minutes. It the show desperately wanted to, this cleanup scene could have been half the episode, and it would have been, intense, and awesome. But that scene was I would say my favorite. Going forward with that storyline, we see that more of the protagonists are the antagonists. Without knowing who the man was, we knew that Alice was in a weird place, as she killed him in self-defense, and it and it made Betty question the morales of her mother, with Alice just taking another person's life. But diving more into the episode, we see that Betty finds out that the man does have people that cared for him, and that antagonizes Alice, and most of all Chic. Knowing the show of Riverdale, it seems like Betty will not see her mother and brother as antagonists after all that they have done, which would have made for some awesome story.

The second story in the episode with Archie was very underwhelming. The reveal of Agent Adams not being real was kind of disappointing, and the show Archie seems like a not so great person. He is first of all oblivious to the power of Hiram, and how he can buy out Riverdale, and Archie was dishonest to who he thought was federal enforcement. Hopefully, we see Archie turn against Hiram and contact the real FBI.

Lili Reinhart was the greatest part of the episode. I enjoyed how she bought to life the reactions to the actions of her mother. It was interesting to see the character go through such a traumatic experience, and how she will trust her family after this. The rest of the cast of the episode was great, we had Mädchen Amick (Alice Cooper), Christian Sloan (Shady man murdered), Hart Denton (Chic Cooper), Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones), Skeet Ulrich (FP Jones), Lochlyn Munro (Hal Cooper), Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom), KJ Apa (Archie Andrews), John Behlmann (Agent Arthur Adams), Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge), Mark Consuelos (Hiram Lodge), Marisol Nichols (Hermione Lodge), and Luke Perry (Fred Andrews).

In conclusion, this episode of Riverdale was an episode which had some intense scenes which were brought to life with the acting capabilities. With the writing of the script, this episode did feel a little flat on some parts. This was season 2, episode 13 or Riverdale, and this should have been the season finale. There feels like there is no plot to look forward to as most things have been either swept under the rug, and everything else feels like it has been dragged out for too long, longer than it needs to be. The director, Julie Plec did a good job with the cinematography and lighting so I will give this episode of Riverdale a 7.5 out of 10.
