STRANGER THINGS SEASON 2 REVIEW ... SO SPOILERS

After a long and enjoyable binge, I have finished Stranger Things Season two. So spoilers, major spoilers ahead for the season. Please go watch the second season if you have not watched it, it is amazing. But anyway, let's review.

Ten months after Will Byers is found, Hawkins, Indiana has never been the same. Will is experiencing episodes where he is living in the Upside Down. Part of a bigger conspiracy involving the mysterious dimension of the Upside Down, Will's friends Mike, Dustin, Lucas and newcomer Max, team up with Steve, Nancy, and Will's older brother, Johnathan, mother, Joyce, and step-father Bob along with Sheriff Hopper to solve the mystery of Will's behavior and the outbreak of the creatures from the Upside Down. With the clock ticking of a bigger threat coming, the only hope to save everyone from their doom is lost telekinetic friend, Eleven.

So to start, Stranger Things season two is a great step up from season one, which was hard to top. In season two we saw more character development in all the characters, we got a bunch of awesome 1980's references like season one, and we saw the lore of the show expand. All things which helped season two, to top season one.

The show maintained the vibe of feeling like it was not only set in the 80's made it was made in the 80's. From the cinematography to the music, the series immersed me into 1980's Hawkins, Indiana. There was some cheesy times music was used in the series, such as the Ghostbuster theme, but it did feel somewhat natural to the context of the scene and the characters.

The story of the season was interesting. It was more complex this time around, however, was not convoluted. The way that the Upside down plot connected with Will was great to see, especially when Will was possessed by the mind flayer. Eleven's storyline was okay. It was interesting to see number eight, however, the episode did feel a little out of touch with the rest of the season. I enjoyed how the season showed us different storylines with all the characters. We saw Max and her brother get a story which involved Lucas, Dustin's pet, and Hopper's storyline, great adventures that were enjoyable to watch.

But arguably the most important story thread of the season was the resolution to Barb's death. I personally found it heartbreaking in the episode when Barb's parents were going to sell their house because they were so hopeful to find their daughter. So I was glad that Barb was not forgotten, and that Nancy, Johnathan, and Murry Bauman created a story to Barb's death., and that her parents didn't have to suffer any longer.

The characters this season were amazing. The best team up of the show was Dustin and Steve. It was great to see two characters who seem like opposites come together and bring an awesome friendship to the screen. The nerdy charm of Dustin and the douchebagness of Steve made for a really neat mix that I want to see more of in season 3.
It was also great seeing Lucas's and Dustin's family in the show because that was a 'big' mystery last season. I enjoyed the new character of Max, she was a neat new addition to the party in the skills and humor she brought to the show.

The reason that these characters were so loveable on screen was all to do with the spectacularly talented cast of the series, we had Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair),  Sadie Sink (Max), Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Sean Astin (Bob Newby), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Paul Reiser (Dr. Sam Owens), and David Harbour as Sheriff Jim Hopper.

Noah Schnapp was amazing in this season. I was blown away by his acting, especially how he pulled off all the spasms that Will had with the Mind Flayer getting in his head. It was great to see Will in a large portion of the season.

Overall, Stranger Things season two is a triumphant addition to the series, in my personal opinion, topping season one. From the character pair-ups of Dustin and Steve to the deep story plots, 80's references, spectacular cinematography, and amazing acting, Stranger Things season 2 earns a solid 9.2/10. I would like to hear your thoughts on the second season of Stranger Things, please comment below. Later on, I will do a season 3 speculation post. As always thanks for reading, take care.
