INHUMANS SERIES PREMIERE REVIEW
Season 1 Episode 1+ 2:
The Inhumans tv show has premiered on television and after the response to the review of its release earlier this month. I personally did not get to see it in IMAX, but here I am now with the review of the Inhumans. So spoilers ahead for the first two episodes of the show.
The Inhumans are a super species of humans that have powers, now in a type of exile, living in separation from the humans in the secret city, Atalan, located on the moon.
The show picks up with Inhumans Royal Familly member Triton (Mike Moh), who is in Hawaii searching for other Inhumans; however, he gets taken down by special forces. Thought dead by the Royal family, King of Atalan, Black Bolt (Anson Mount) sends out Gorgon (Eme Ikwuakor) to search for him. With Black Bolt meditating, brother Maximus (Iwan Rheon) starts to create a coop on Atalan. Queen of Atalan, Medusa (Serinda Swan) is captured by Maximus and her magical hair gets shaved off.
Medusas's sister, Crystal (Isabelle Cornish) gets her dog, Lockjaw to send Medusa and the remaining member of the Royal family, such as Karnak (Ken Leung) to Hawaii, away from Atalan where Maximus will kill them. Maximus successfully takes over Atalan with Crystal held in the city, and Lockjaw asleep, while the Royal family stranded in Hawaii finding their way in society on Earth. Medusa is nearly assassinated by a spy sent by Maximus, Blackbolt is arrested by police, and Gorgon and Karnak are lost in the wild. The episode ends with Maximus convening the people of Atalan that Black bolt abandoned them and that he the new King who will lead them to freedom.
So going back to when this was initially released in theaters. Does this deserve as much hate as it got? No. The premiere of Inhumans was surprisingly not that bad. Not to get me wrong, this definitely could have been improved a lot, but it was fine, it's not that bad. The stuff that I thought could have been improved was the acting. The way that there were transitions to flashbacks were a little weird. I couldn't tell if it was someone flashing back, or if it was someone using their powers. But that's really it.
The cinematography of the premier was great, it looked awesome; from the slow-motion shots, you can definitely tell there was a large budget spent on this. There were some great acting talents in the episode, such as Iwan Rheon as Maximus. I liked Eme Ikwuakor and Ken Leung in the show, I thought they were great. I also enjoyed Serinda Swan as Medusa, I thought she was amazing. But of course, the character most was looking forward to was Lockjaw, but of course, he gets taken out in the first half hour.
The Inhumans was an alright show which had a shaky beginning. I might do reviews for the season, to see how it plays out and because my schedule for Friday is free. The show might get picked up for a season 2 like Iron Fist, but changes would have to be made in the direction of the show. Anyway, I will give the premiere of Inhumans a 6 out of 10. Please comment below your thoughts on the episode down in the comments below. As always thanks for reading, take care.
