DAREDEVIL SEASON 3 REVIEW ... SO SPOILERS

It is time, we are back with a new Marvel Netflix season, with the return of Daredevil. I know I haven't reviewed Luke Cage season two, or Iron Fist season two, I should have considering that those were the last seasons, but nevertheless, here we are for the review man without fear. Spoilers ahead for season 3, let's review.

To recap, after being spilled out from the drains of Midland Circle, Mathew Murdock (Charlie Cox) gives up being a lawyer and even a person as he stays in a church with the nun who bought him up, Sister Maggie (Joanne Whalley). Meanwhile, Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) manages to get out of prison as he starts to corrupt the FBI and special operative, Benjamin Pointdexter (Wilson Bethel). Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), and Karen Paige (Deborah Ann Woll) try to fight the corruption by day, but by night, the devil of Hells of Kitchen rises to save his city.

To start off, I really enjoyed this season of Daredevil. The season made an epic comeback not only in the villain department, which I will discuss later, however, also with the way that they played with Matt and his views on religion. There were some interesting conversations in the season between characters which dealt with Matt, him being a hero, and him being a Catholic. It was something which I was intrigued in, as to how Matt lost faith in his religion because of all that he has done, and all that he has lost.

The season did create a full well-structured arch regarding what happens throughout the course of the season. I did like how Matt did get all of his sh*t together by the end of the season when he saw Father Lantom die. The twist that Maggie was Matt's mother was something that I already knew because we speculated all of that last year when the Defenders came out. But the acting in that scene was phenomenal and showed that the characters that we are following are very much real people facing more real problems in this grand universe.

Kingpin came back and was actually called that in the show this time. The season had an interesting focus on him where we saw a reason to fear him more, even when he is playing a victim. The character made an epic return to the show, and it was awesome seeing him. We got to see a calmer side of the character, however, he still remained very menacing. It was also interesting seeing how the show slowly revealed Fisk's full plan creating some well-constructed suspense.

Pointdexter, AKA, Bullseye was a phenomenal villain. The way that he was introduced and how his origin was developed was a great change to see in how a villain can be introduced. I enjoyed the flashbacks of the character and how deranged he was as a child, and how that has followed him through to the events of this season. The post-credit scene at the end of episode 13 teased that the character will come back in a big way next season, most likely with the costume. However, he did look cool in the red Daredevil suit.

The season was aesthetically pleasing, in terms of the lighting and the other visual techniques used in the show to bring the story to life. You can tell that there was a little more effort and care placed into this season of the show. Every episode looked very polished in the way that it was filmed, and the CG also did look great. The first ten seconds of the first episode, continuing straight from the Defenders was amazing and blew me away.

Fighting has always been a big part in the series, and this season brings some of the fight scenes to a greater level than before. The prison fight scene was one of my favorites, the way that is was constructed and executed was amazing. I also did enjoy the fights between Daredevil and Bullseye, they were great as they made regular places more creepy, sinister, and exciting. And of course, the final fight with Daredevil vs Kingpin vs Bullseye was amazing. The way that the fight switched between two characters was well orchestrated and showed the talent behind the camera. Chris Brewster did an awesome job in constructing all the fight scenes as the stunt coordinator, and also as the Daredevil stunt double.

Charlie Cox was, of course, amazing as the blind lawyer by day and devil of Hells Kitchen by night. The emotional performance he bought throughout scenes in the season was amazing, and I loved how Cox pulled off a consistent tone when playing the character over this season-long arch, from the falling from Midland to revealing himself to Kingpin as Daredevil, to operating with Foggy and Karen again. Vincent D'Onofrio was also spectacular in the season, bringing in an awesome performance in the season, making a menacing return as Kingpin.
The rest of the cast in the season was also amazing, in the performances they bought. Starring in the season we had Charlie Cox (Mathew Murdock/ Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll (Karren Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Joanne Whalley (Sister Maggie), Peter McRobbie (Father Lanton), Jay Ali (Ray Nadeem), Vincent D'Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/ Kingpin), and Wilson Bethel (Pointdexter/ Bullseye).

Overall, Daredevil season three was an awesome addition to the series and is my favorite of the three seasons so far. I am excited to see where the show will go next with season four and beyond. From the character development, the stunts, the visual elements, and the story, Daredevil season three were interesting to watch, and I will give it a 9 out of 10.
